McDonalds Got Me AGAIN!
« on: November 03, 2010, 06:44:27 pm »
Oh Boy!  A long and hard day at work and I needed to relax and eat a sandwich and have a beer.  Here we go.

Grabbed the sandwich out of the bag and looked at the tag.  No Mayo, looks good.  Everything is in order here.

WHAT?!?!?!  YOU JERKS!!!

Correct.

It's man spunk.

And per the directions on the receipt, it is permitted, as evidenced by the DT - which of course stands for "Do That!" - with the Man Spunk being understood as we all know that McDonalds employees are underpaid and mistreated by customers. It's just simple revenge...

If that is indeed a Money Shot in my sandwich that guy is in the wrong business.  He can have a very successful acting career.

That's why I don't eat any fast food that I don't like in the default configuration.  It's hard enough to get the right items.  Getting the right toppings on the right items is more trouble than I'm willing to spend on "fast" food.

When I eat there, which is not very often, I order 2 cheeseburgers ketchup only.

One night coming home late I pulled off to the highway McD's and ordered 2 cheeseburgers ketchup only.

I got back on the highway, opened the bag and took a bite of the first burger. No meat, I checked the next burger, no meat.

They gave me two buns with only ketchup on them. ---daisies---!

I should've went back and went Falling Down on them.

I'd rather go hungry than eat McDonalds food.

If you have them in your area, try Whataburger. Or Jack in the Box.
Old, but not obsolete.

Jack in the Box, oh how I miss you. There was a What A Burger, Jack in the Box, AND El pollo loco near where I lived in San Antonio. It was awesome  (there was also an HEB grocery, Little Ceasers, BlockBuster, and hollywoodvideo all on the same street) Culebra FTW!

You asked for it, this is how they party down when the clown's not around.

I think I'm allergic to something they put in fast food - preservatives? MSG? I always end up really sick after eating it.

I had a Whataburger in Texas once. It tastes just like a damn Rallys, I dont know what the hub bub is about. Jack in the Box is based outta San Diego, we got em on every block.

You want a good burger, get your ass to In-n-Out. Best burger/fast food IMO. Kinda small, but you just get a 4x4.

You can only buy Mayo in France and Belgium. So don't worry, every other fast food joint in any other country serves anything except Mayo.

i ask for no lettuce all the time, and they tend to go overboard with the sauce for some unknown reason. (as evident in the huge blob of mayo there.) it's like they think i want more sauce since i asked for no lettuce.  :dunno

Last week at McD's, got a Ribby.  No pickles or onion.

I get the sandwich and it's correct...to a degree.  For whatever reason, there's only one pea-sized dot of BBQ.

I've had a bunch of trouble with Rally's (Checker's for some of you.)  Five or six times IN A ROW they screwed up my burger.  Haven't been back there in years due to that.

But what really gets me is...

A fast food restaurant screw-up is cause for a new thread with numerous pics???  What planet do you live on that this isn't a common occurrence? :)

It's stupid for a restaurant to purchase "cheaper" cups if the option is available to them. IIRC the numbers correctly, sodas amount to phenomenal profit margins for restaurant chains. Back in 1995, I crushed the numbers once and the overhead on a single XL cup of soda amounted to less than two cents. It would take an additional six refills to add another couple of pennies to that. I can't imagine the numbers being that much higher in 2010.

I used to work in a variety of restaurants. The trick to minimizing mistakes in your order is how you order.

The reality is that a lot of fast food places have bored kids working there. You have to talk to them like they're bored six year olds, not competent order takers at an upscale restaurant. If the order is wrong, don't complain to them. Complain to management or to their home office.

Word of advice: if you complain. DO IT IN THE STORE! WATCH THEM MAKE THE FOOD! If you can't see them make the food, don't bother, call the home/corporate office. Check your receipt and make sure everything is supposed to be on there.

One place I worked at would add xtra ice to anything they wanted to the cook to ---fudgesicle--- up. However, if you're lucky, you might get a little something to make your day better.

MacDonnalds does not serve Mayonaise for fries UBERHAUPT! So that stuff you got there, is probably some thickened salad dressing like they serve everywhere else. Please MacDonalds, why does there have to be meshed flies (or is it herbs?) in sauce for fries???

It doesn't matter what they do. I haven't stepped foot in McDonald's in a long time, but I used to pop in when they'd get the McRib again. Over the last few decades, I watched as the quality of the sandwich declined.

Bottom line:
If you didn't eat one in the mid-80s, you have no idea what a McRib is supposed to be.

Dude, how do you not get onions or pickles on the McRib?! Thats what makes it.

I never eat raw onions and hate pickles. Sauce was all I needed on mine back in the day.

Hm. My lame sister hates flavor too. She eats it the same way you do, I tried it, and man. It just doesnt taste the same.

I was too young to eat it in the mid 80's (born in 82) What was the difference?

I had a McRib yesterday, all my onions were on one side of the bun and the pickles were outside of the bun.  Plus very light on the sauce.  Was it good : yes.  Was it great : no.  Will I go get another one? : Hell yeah!!!!

I had 2 yesterday. They must be screwing them up where you guys live.  Both of mine filled the box and was COVERED in sauce, tons of onions too. I'll prolly get another today =)

That's an old trick.  Make the box smaller than the sandwich so's it looks like they's hookin' you up, yo!  But the reality is, it's a smaller sandwich than it first was, and the onions were different.  Remember, I'm talking about the "out of the gate 1981 vintage McRib".  It was actually a permanent part of the menu for a while, but they canned it based on marginal sales numbers.  If you like the things they are selling as McRibs today, you'd break into tears of joy if you saw the original.  Ok, maybe that's a little extreme, but those who never had the pleasure really don't know what they are missing.

Still, even the current version is hard to resist.  I'm probably going to hit one or two tonight for dinner.  Here's to hoping they don't get stingy with the sauce!  8)

The best part about eating a McRib back in the 80s- the fact that you could eat it in front of the tv and watch actual music videos on MTV while waiting for Robotech to come on.

I dont think it is a lot different, I was born in 78 and had a few McRibs in my day. I dont think its as overcooked as it used to be (one reason I like the old one better) but I really cant complain for $2.50ish

Youre kidding right? Spam is awful, I dont know where they get the meat for the mcrib, but it doesnt even matter. Its delicious. I wish I would have tasted the one from the 80's but I dont really think how different it can be. Its SO GOOD.

The sourdough jack from JITB is killer too, but you can get that anytime, same with IN n Out. Back on point, GET A MCRIB OR DIE!!!  >:D

That's because everyone's trained to fill the cup with ice.  Completely filled.

Dude, how do you not get onions or pickles on the McRib?! Thats what makes it.

The SAUCE makes it.  (Coincidentally, I hadn't realized this, but it's the same BBQ that they use for the nuggets dipping sauce.)  Not onions or pickles.  And I love onions and pickles, they just don't appeal to me on that sandwich.  When I worked there, I'd put some cheese on it, but I'm too thrifty to do that now.

Me and my wife were at McDonalds last week and ordered the 6 pc. chicken nuggets.  I ate about 3 and she grabbed one and after the first bite she spit it back out and there was a bone about the size of a dime in the nugget!  I didn't even know chickens had bones that big in them!  It must have been the top of the spinal column or something..  She almost threw up and I just felt sick to my stomache knowing I already ate 3..  We left and swore to never eat there again.

Later we were kicking ourselves because we probably could have sued.  She could have choked on that thing or cut her mouth.  SIZE OF A DIME!!  THATS PRETTY MUCH HALF OF THE NUGGET!!

I suspect you would have no case. There's something about implied risk that comes into play, i.e. it's not unreasonable that you might find a bone in a piece of chicken.

Now, if the bone was that big, maybe it wasn't chicken...

Cooked pork
Favorite BBQ sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray's)
Pickles (hamburger chips)
whole onion - sliced
Hoagie/sandwich rolls

Not exactly difficult to recreate.
