« on: October 28, 2010, 02:15:25 pm »
Hey Everyone,

I'm making a mega man costume for a Halloween party and thought it might be interesting to see everyone elses Halloween creations.  So if you have any costumes, props, decorations, pumpkin carvings, or anything else that you created, post a picture! :applaud:

Ill post a pic of my costume once I finish it tonight!

ready.... GO! :D

I love halloween! Once everything is said and done, Ill post some pics up. Still need to decorate the house, and I got about 4 more pumpkins to carve. A mega man costume would be great to see!  ;D
Pictures are overrated anyway.

Almost done, but had a party to go to.

Yes, I know it's not movie authentic.

No, I'm not making one in black leather.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

Here's mine from last year, this year WAS gonna be a fibreglas optimus prime complete with stilts, but I got laid off work and now and self-employed full time... so money is tight while my business picks up and I'm re-using a different costume from another year. I know, it's a cop-out.

"Fun stuff"?? :laugh2:  I'd be curious to see what you've got labeled as creepy stuff.   :-\

Very good, authentic looking work.

If you've got more pics, post them while it's still October.  If you wait until April, they'll really seem out of place.

One day I'm going to turn my garage into the resonance chamber for a giant infrasonic resonator and make the whole neighborhood pulse at various times through the evening on Halloween. See if I can't cause some people to think they're seeing ghosts.

Yeah that one in the dark at the top of the driveway had like 40% of the children turning back halfway up the driveway. The corpse had a melted plastic lunchbox in it's hand. I kept catching up to the kids to give them candy.

This one here is in a box, it's done now, I'll try to take some pics when I decorate for halloween tomorrow. I've got some others but they've been rented to a film company for now, which I'm kinda pissed about... supposed to have my art back for halloween!!!

I get most of my stuff from the dollar store - the teeth are glue on fingernails, the yellow ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- is expanding foam insulation, and the head is a styrofoam wig holder... my other tools are mainly latex and a heat gun, sometimes a blowtorch.

All I have right now is build pics, I made these last year. I'll try to get some finished pics up if I can find them or I'll take some new ones when I unpack. I lined my driveway with these severed heads, one of them had the hatchet in it's head, another had a rifle stuck up under the chin with the chunks blown out the top. I love halloween. I had a body with the head under the tire of my car, and the croth under the tire of my truck... to go up my driveway you had to go between the vehicles and step over the body... there was blood everywhere. Halloween is my favourite day of the year, why it's not a stat holiday is beyond me.

I will thank you to notice that not one spandex-bearing animal was harmed in the construction of mine.

I do up the whole yard every year.  Most of my stuff is hand-made.  I didn't put up all my stuff this year because I wasn't feeling well, but here is this years layout.

Now some night pics so you can get an idea of how things look:

Also note that black cats are indeed evil.  Here's a pic of my cat sitting on the crypt keepers lap.  (He sat there all day!)

When we were in California early last October we noticed how many Halloween stores there were along the i-5. What's up with you guys and your Halloween, anyways? It seems like a MUCH bigger deal down there than it does up here in Alberta. Don't get me wrong, we do have the odd house (maybe one in 50) that really decorates, but we're way more into Christmas than Halloween...

Are all of the states this big into Halloween?

I live in BC. Christmas is a big one for most people, it's probably the same in most of North America.

Christmas however is more of a family holiday than halloween. Sure, the gifts are mostly for the kids and such but there's all the "togetherness" stuff, religion for many people and of course parties and family dinners.

Halloween on the other hand is to dress up and get candy. The people who go bonkers decorating for it are the kids who never grown up. They also have been known to build and play 20/30 year + arcade games.

+1, excellent summation! :)

Agreed!

On top of that halloween is a great "maker" holiday.  The bad weather hasn't hit yet, so even in the east you can get away with hand-made stuff.  This really isn't the case for Xmas (except for custom light strings of course).  Also halloween decorations are supposed to be a little creepy, so even if you are a poor artist it still works as in this case bad is good.
