The A team
« on: June 25, 2010, 08:17:41 am »

I couldn't see a review anywhere, so a quick one from me (it's been a while  ;D)

Simple really. This is good fun. Crazy, silly plot with crazy, silly effects yet so much more enjoyable in exactly the way Transformers wasn't...

All the team members did a great job in my opinion of capturing the essence of the TV series, although I must admit it was so long ago my memory could be playing tricks. I kinda remember Murdoch as being more hands on with gadgets. Talking of Murdoch, I saw the actors name at the beginning without thinking about it. When the credits rolled and I saw his name again, Shalto Copley, it clicked. he played 'Wickkus' in District 9. In the A-Team movie, he even does a Sert Efrican accent at one point. Of course, that was actually his own accent!

Stay to after the credits too. It was worth the wait (",)

3.5/5 plans that came together.

Definitely not going to see it in the theater maybe later on DVD or so...

About your memory playing tricks: don't they do re-runs there ?

I think they are on everyday over here now :)

No, the A-team for me will always be the guys from the A-team, I don't want to see other actors in their role...sorry but all these kind of movies are simply not doing the trick for me. It's probably fine for the youth though....

I was curious about it,
Mr. T being a childhood hero and all.
Thanks for the review.
Probably catch it on dvd, haven't gone
to the theater in years.

Yeah, when I first heard they were going to make an A-team movie, I thought it would be really crap and I wouldn't bother. But then I saw a few trailers in the cinema and I realised they did a pretty good job of it (",)

Level42, although I liked the A-team when I was a kid, I don't think it's really re-run worthy on free-to air TV, which is all I watch. Can't be bothered with cable (57 channels and nothing on). On free-to-air in Australia, they tend to only re-run absolute classics, like Get Smart.

Is it more than a long TV show?
Are people killed? In the A-team series NOBODY got ever killed. Watch the oldies closely and you will see everybody standing up, crouching away or say something.

I just watched the first 20 minutes of this online and turned it off. It was just too cheesy. In that time a helicopter was blown up, obviously killing it's occupants. On a good note, the 2 dogs that are left to eat Hannibal alive are not killed by Hannibal, he just handcuffs them together by their collars  ::)

I'm pretty sure I would have just shot them if they were going to eat me and I'm a tree hugging, peace-to-all-living-things vegetarian

I watched it over the weekend. It's a fun movie, much like the series was a fun TV show. They did capture some of the essence of the show from back in the day, but changed enough of it to make a die hard A Team loyalist cringe. It's not worth theater prices, but it would be a good as a DVD rental.

You guys are damn picky the movie was a good watch fun and abit silly but still fun and it kept elements of the tv shows

But the tv show was when the were on the run and not before when they were in the army so if things don't match to the tv show it's not a big deal  :dunno

And actually, since I mentioned Get Smart, the recent movie of that wasn't bad either. Alan Arkin absolutely nailed the Chief (",)

Well i work at the theater and i can honestly say, it pretty fun!

It only borrows the NAME of the A-team. If it was called, Explosion Madness or something like that people would have less trouble with it. I thought it as a fun movie to watch and i will probably watch the sequel (c'mon people everybody knows theres going to be a sequel  ::)
