I've been wanting to do this since I got a free 21" Trinitron off the side of the road. Works perfectly. So my problem is, why can't I seem to get Raiden Fighters and the subsequent variations to play on MAME 32 plus?

Also, is there anyone out there willing to walk me through the compiling of the "actual" MAME program. I've been wanting to understand that completely. I get the idea, but whenever I try it doesn't work. Please send me a message or e-mail. joshbarnatt@gmail.com

Thanks

For the SPI games to work in MAME, you need to let the "update" process finish the first time you start a game. An NVRAM file will then be created for each title when the counter has reached 000. After this is completed, press F3 to "reboot" the game.

Good luck on your build.

I figured that out when I got one to work in Plus+. My problem is that I'm getting ROMS that don't show up as working. That, or they are almost working, but they are missing files.

you have to have the rom set that corresponds to the version of mame that you're using. If you don't then you may have roms that worked with a previous version but won't work with whatever you're trying to use at the moment.

Oh that's right. I actually knew that somewhere in the depth of my brain. It must have been lost in all the bullet dodging. Is there a thread somewhere that helps explain MAME compiling?

I used this to help me learn compiling. It's quite easy if you are methodical and take your time with each step. The only thing to watch out for now is which version of mame you are wanting to compile. You need to make sure you get the correct files as things changed at certain dates. And the very newest version of mame need a whole new toolset.
