ArcadeVGA and J-Pac - Constant Vertical Scroll
« on: March 14, 2010, 08:58:37 pm »
Hi,

I built my MAME cabinet a few years ago. A few moves and an international move later and I just never use it. It hasn't been touched in probably 2 years. So I'm trying to get it up and running so I can sell it to someone who will enjoy it.

I have an ArcadeVGA and a J-Pac (I bought these in 06/07). I have connected it all up, and I am getting a constant vertical scrolling image. Adjusting the V-Hold pot helps slow it down, and I got it to stabilise once, but it's not a permanent fix.

I saw this video on youtube: which says the solution was a VGA breakout cable. Do I need one of those, or don't I because I have a J-Pac?

I have forgotten all my old arcade machine knowledge it seems :(

I also see this: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=66402.0 I have a few graphics cards which are compatible, would I be better off going down this path?

Help!

I just found this (using Google search, didn't come up when I used the forum search earlier)

Similar to my problem, looks like I may have to do some soldering - damn, not something I have much experience in...

When I get home tonight, I'll try and find the model of the monitor.

However the cabinet is an Australian MVS cabinet, the 2 slot here: http://hardmvs.com/xml/pacific/pacCabs.htm

So, perhaps there is an issue with the wiring as it is an MVS cabinet? Here is the manual for the motherboard (which I have removed, it's broken). The harness pin information is on page 14: http://hardmvs.com/manuals/MV-2FserviceManual.pdf

OK. The monitor is an Orion OC-2011 - mentioned here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=45137.0;all

Some help would be very much appreciated.

This is pretty much my monitor board here: http://www.jomac.net.au/Orion%20PWB%202012-PWB2022.jpg

Do I need to change the composite sync like this post: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=89656.0

I thought the JPac did that for you?

Also, I'm only using a standard VGA cable, is that a problem?
