Frontend suggestions
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:09:38 pm »
Hey,

Im finishing up my Naomi Universal cab and would like to make some nice custom menus in the frontend.  Im currently using Mala but I dont know if it will work out for what I want.  I would like to have some menus that consist of games from multiple emulators.  For example I would like a Shootem up menu that would have its own graphics and list games from MAMA, PS2 and Makaron.  Another would be fighting games consisting of different emulators.

The majority of the games will be from MAME so if there is a way to add games manually to the mame list that would work too.  Thanks for any help.

Mala, Mamewah, and AtomicFE also support multiple emulators on one list.

How do you setup the video snaps in hyperspin?  I downloaded the clips from emumovies...

Gotcha, it works now...  Im having issues getting it to load my emulators though, I got the box art and the wheel art and all that setup and I didnt even try to get it to load my emulators.  I run HyperHQ and I set it up, but it wont load the NES, SNES, or Sega Genesis.  I get errors, like file doesn't exist or something else...  Any suggestions?  I'm probably doing something simple wrong.

Just a guess, but is Hyperspin written using DJGPP using the Allegro library? The only general purpose GFX library I have ever dealt with that had only FLV support was Allegro, so I am curious if this was what was used.

It's written in Flash Action Script which is where the flv format comes from (short for Flash Video).

Check out the docs section. It has everything you need to know about HS.  http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=55

If you have any other questions, please post on the HS forums. You will get an answer pretty quickly.

BTW Any DirectShow compatible video support can playback flv with the proper codecs (usually found in codec packs such as the Vista Codec Pack. This is why FE's such as GameEx supports both .avi and .flv.
