Need a service manual for NEC XM2950

My first posting to the forum...

I'm finally delving into building my own MAME cabinet and managed to win a huge 29" NEC XM2950 presentation monitor on eBay for (a hair under) $40.

It didn't come with a remote, so I had to make a JP1 cable and program an old remote to operate it. Now I have it setup and would like to have a service manual for it - unfortunately, I contacted NEC and they said they've purged it from their database.

Does anyone have one (in PDF) they could send me?

I found that place and another, but I'm a cheapskate and am hoping to find one online for free.

Those companies originally downloaded them from the NEC website for free anyway - it's just that NEC have since deleted them. I think they're charging too much for something they don't have a tangible product of (or distribution rights for). I'll go to one of them as a last resort though.

Also look for manuals for the Mitsubishi XC2930 series.  I think they may be the same monitor under different brands. 

The manuals for the 37 inch models may be of use as well.  I could have swore I found the manual for them online at one point.

Congrats on getting what is IMO the best monitor for a MAME cabinet.  The 15Khz resolutions look incredible on the XM29 and the the 31Khz resolutions are great for Windows or any front-end.   I think I saw this one on ebay about a week ago but the shipping was a deal breaker for me.

How is the convergence for your XM29?  Mine is great at low resolutions, but I could never quite get everything sync'd up for higher resolutions.  There are a ton of settings that can be tweaked, fortunately. 

I would also like to have a copy of the service manual if anyone can find one.  The fan on the back of mine is a bit noisy and I'm afraid to open the beast and replace it without having the manual.

The convergence on my XM2950 is pretty good - not quite as good as a dedicated PC monitor would be, but perfectly usable at 800x600 ... the top of the screen is slightly off, as is the bottom left corner, but 80% of it looks dead-on.

The focus is much more noticeably out in the corners of the screen. You can't notice it when running at low resolutions (300x240 etc), but at 640x480 and above the corners are hard to read. It appears that the circuit board with the focus pots is attached to the side of the horizontal drive transformer - (though encased in a plastic box) - so hopefully I won't need to replace the whole LOPT unit (which is probably impossible to find now).

If you have convergence and geometry controls, then it sounds like you have the XM2960 which has the on-screen menu system (OSM) and buttons on the front of the monitor. You need a different manual, which is probably still available from NEC - I know their user manual for that model is still on their website.

...but unfortunately, the filenames suggest that those manuals are for the XM296x (XM2960), which is a different chassis from the XM2950.

The last file I thought was for the XM29(50), but it's for the XM/XP29 plus....although I thought I'd include all of them for comparison, or whatever. Thought I had one for the XM, though. Don't know where I found those ---daisies---, and can't find even those ---smurfs--- anymore. And, yeah, it won't let me download 'em, either. I guess the forum software bug hasn't been rectified yet. Not that it matters.

Okay, so I went ahead and purchased the Service Manual from User-Manuals.com and downloaded the PDF (twice to make sure). ...but the copy they're selling is missing the whole section on Adjustment Procedures.

It says on the front page of the downloaded XM-2950 service manual:
"Use the SERVICE MANUAL together with SERVICE MANUAL SUPPLEMENT PG-2740 (399910815), as this SERVICE MANUAL  covers only the differentia."

The supplement PG-2740 is nowhere to be found. Figures!

I finally found a copy of the NEC XM2950 Service Manual !   
(I suspect the uploader was the same "wolfsoft" that posted just above me.)
