Mounting Question: U360 v. Sanwa JLF
« on: May 18, 2009, 01:48:27 pm »
Can the U360 be used to mount a JLF?  I have a JLF on order from LizardLick but it won't be here for a while and I want to finish up my CP.  Can I use the spare U360 I have to drill everything out (I'm top-mounting) and then swap it out for the JLF when it arrives?

The U360 is a JLW, and when comparing the JLW and JLF mounting plates at lizardlick, they look different. I can't tell how different from the photos, though. Go have a look.

Yeah they are completely different I'm afraid bud:

JLW:

JLF:

The effective mounting dimensions of the JLW/U360 are 85x50mm, whereas the JLF is 83x41mm as the JLF is much narrower.

You should still be able to drill/route your panel out though using those dimensions although I know its nicer to have a physical item on hand. :)

Well after putting the dimensions into AutoCAD it appears that they do use similar mounting positions:

(JLW/U360 is red, JLF is green)

Feck knows what went wrong with my calculations. I should have remembered that they fit any way as I CNC drilled my cocktail CPs so that my mounting bolts would accept either joystick. It was 6am when I posted so thats my excuse :P

If you use the dead center of the U360 plate to mark your hole centers they should line up with the inner edge of the JLF slot.

The JLW/U360 has additional holes which are missing from the diagram above. It has the slotted holes which match up with the JLF and also round holes which match up with the wider Happ stick pattern.

I thought the diagram looked a little off. Here's a pic of what Andy means:

Thanks Franco and everyone else.  My JLF actually shipped yesterday (finally - 15 days after ordering!) so it should be here by the weekend so I'm not going to bother using the U360 to make my templates.  I'm really psyched to finish the CP I'm working on!
