Hi, bit of an unusual query this one.
I've got a dance machine (a Korean "Pump It Up" machine) and I'm looking to swap out the game board, which is a glorified PC, with a more standard desktop PC that I can run my own music game software on. As the monitor is even plain VGA, I have most of the technicals worked out and I can manage my own software. However, the machine is odd in that the connector for the JAMMA interface is backwards, in that the game board has the female end, and the cabinet has the male end. This is a bit of a problem when I want to hook up a J-PAC, as this would be a male-to-male connection.
I'm optimistically hoping that it would be a simple wire/soldering job joining two female JAMMA connectors together as a female-female connector (I'm not interested in rewiring the machine and want to keep the machine usable with the original game board,) and there wouldnt be any hidden pitfalls from doing this. As far as I can tell it's an utterly standard JAMMA except it's backwards.
Also to save me wasting any more brain power (in short and expensive supply this week!) on the topic, would making the female-female connector be a question of wiring them together with straight wires like a flat ribbon cable, or would the wires have to be crossed? If I actually set down for a moment and give it some actual thought I could answer this myself, but if anyone else has encountered a similar situation, I'd be grateful for experiences!
Thanks in advance.
