Connecting a NANAO MS8-26SU to a ArcadeVGA card?
« on: November 24, 2007, 03:30:42 pm »
Hi Chaps,

I am just about to purchase a ArcadeVGA card, but need to know if ill need to also purchace a video amp as im not sure if the monitor uses a 1 or 4v input?

Plus do i need to connect the black and white monitor inputs together to get the composite sync?. I know where the RGB cables go, but a little confused what to do with the Black and White cables?

At a guess id say

Black goes to pin 10
White to 13 + 14

1 - Red
2 - Green
3 - Blue
4 - Monitor ID *
5 - Ground
6 - Red Ground
7 - Green Ground
8 - Blue Ground
9 - Keyway (No pin)
10 - Sync Ground
11 - Monitor ID *
12 - Monitor ID *
13 - Horizontal Sync
14 - Verical Sync
15 - Monitor ID *

Think about the video signals coming FROM the PC -> monitor.

You'll need to attach ALL grounds to the monitor's black lead (assuming that is ground).

get the ultimarc video amp

connect your vga cord to it from the pc

coonect rgb rom monitor to rgb on the amp

H your white wire goes into H  on the amp.

your blue wire with white stripe is the ground wire and goes to the ground on the amp.

v is not needed becuase the amp already combines it.

I have this monitor also

Every manufacturer uses different coloured wires in their cables, so use a multimeter to trace it back to your VGA pins.

I once used a VGA cable the had green wire=red, brown wire=green and yellow wire=blue.  Sync could be any colour.  Ground could be any colour, but more likely to be black.

You need to feed a composite sync signal to your monitor.  Twist your H & V sync wires together (pins 13 & 14 from VGA).  Some ex-VGA monitor cables combine this anyway (as the original VGA monitor took composite sync).

Doesn't the ArcadeVGA card already boost the pc video signal up?
I thought the video amp wasn't needed if you used the ArcadeVGA card.

Just curious........

the ultimarc J-pac has the built in ammp the arcadevga does not have the amp build in.

also the wiring coloring I gave you above is what they are no multimeter needed.

Hi northerngames, yes your wiring is correct, I just read the monitor cct diagram, and checked the RGB voltage going into the monitor at 4V each. So ill be getting an amp also. Thanks
