What cabinet is this?
« on: March 05, 2007, 09:27:16 am »
This cabinet is being sold very cheap for obvious reasons.  Anyone know what it originally was?  It has Primal Rage graphics on the side, but I don't think that's it.

Is it suitable for Mameing?

Thanks,
SGT

Damn, did they convert that to a golden tee?

Mame the hell out of it - I think it would make a pretty nice cabinet.

For 19 bucks, I think you can't go wrong.  Besides, while your there picking it up, maybe the guy has some controls/buttons to go with it.

Yeah, obviously I'm not worried about the price.  I just don't want to go to the trouble of handling and hauling the thing if it's a junker.

Honestly, there's no reason why you should have to pay for that...

I don't know about other guys around here, but it's pretty easy for my to find a free cabinet in good condition (without a monitor). I just give one of the local arcade distributors a call, let them know I'm looking for a cab for a project, and they'll let me come in and haul away an unused and non-working cabinet. Usually these distributors are just grateful that you're opening up some floor space for them and willing to haul away the cabinet.

If the price is that cheap I wouldn't sweat it too much. I'm guessing the operator is just trying to justify getting SOMETHING for it. I called around and stopped by almost every distributor in Cincinnati and couldn't find a free cab anywhere. Coincidentally, I ended up buying a Primal Rage dedicated cab for $100 (w/ a working 25" monitor).

If you don't mind the funky shape, that cab should work well for mame. You'll have a nice-sized control panel, and plenty of room for a big monitor or TV. Trackball mounting should be easy too.  ;D

BTW, it's a Dynamo Big Boy cab: http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=thumbs&id=4831

Dynamo made generic cabinets that operators could put any JAMMA board into (such as a Primal Rage kit). That's also part of the reason that the cab is designed with easy access to everything. This can be very handy for a MAME cab.

I'd guess from the overlay, that it wasn't Golden Tee, but it is an Incredible Technologies game. World Class Bowling:
