Defender Cocktail???
« on: March 06, 2007, 12:28:44 am »
Just wondering how rare a Defender cocktail machine is? Picked one of these up a couple of years ago. It was in really rough condition. Here's a pic...

In this condition not much... You didn't say if it works or not.

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

Not sure if it worked... Inside guts of the cab were in rough shape as well. Mice crap and wires half stripped from mice chewing on them. Power supply and some other things were shot too. I kept the game boards and monitor that was in it, also salvaged the leaf spring buttons/2 way joysticks and switches. I've cleaned it up and "Mamed" it. Not quite finished yet. Installed a PC monitor and car amp & speakers so it doubles as a jukebox. Hacked a couple of USB Sidewinders for the interface but thinking of getting an Ipac2 or a Keywiz (occasional shorts with the hacked gamepads). Just about ready to drop in an old PC... just loading software on it before installation (think I'll replace interface as well before dropping the computer in it too). Been testing it by hooking up to my laptop. I'll post some pics when its finished... hopefully sooner than later. lol.  ;D Here's a shot of the inside when I got it. Oh yeah, it was a freebie so I can't complain.

Ah, so the point of the original question was trying to avoid the flames ... smooth ...  ;)

I actually don't think the original was that bad and would definitely have either restored it (Nothing plays Defender like a real Defender) or gone Multi-Williams with it. I would chastise you, but there was a MakeTrax cocktail (same cabinet) at Saurday's auction and the only reason I wanted it was to go MW, so I can hardly fault you for MAMEing yours.

Cheers
