Today I tested my mame32 .89 with the gun for the first time.
NOTHING WORKS!
The gun tracks the windows mouse cursor, but when I launch mame32 and a game for testing, say dragon gun, the gun does not move the game cursor, yet moving my actual mouse DOES!

Please help, this is driving me mad

okay , wingun hates my mame32, I installed a regular command line mame.exe and it worked fine.


Problem is, I use version 0.89.
Could someone PLEASE compile me a commandline version of mame 0.89 to fix games such as lethal enforcers?

Can someone please help me compile a list of all of the ROM and required driver file names for all MAME gungames (i.e the name of the zips in the roms folder) as im going to use a different version of mame to run them (due to offset issues with some) and want to copy and paste from my regular, main mame folder.

MAWS is not working for me on the PC for some reason...

I was wondering if there was some kind of external program that can draw a gun sight on top of the game's window, showing where the mouse is pointing.

As for ePSXe games, the emulator has a built in gun sight that shows up when you hit F5, this is being disabled for some reason when using The Troubleshooter, even though it is not set to hide the gun sight in The Troubleshooter's configuration. any ideas how to show it again? perhaps a plug-in?

I am writing a program that displays a gun sight at the position of the mouse cursor, this is because I want to be able to look at an on screen gun sight for reference where my shots will go.

House of the Dead 2 and 3 already have this, however games like House of the Dead 1, Virtua Cop 1 and 2, and every game on the ePSXe emulation (Time Crisis, Point Blank) need to be played with The Troubleshooter, in which case there is no gun sight tracking the mouse.

I was wondering if anyone else would find this useful? in which case I'll make it more user friendly and release it.

Those prices are nearly twice the price that they are from the manufacturer.... They're in Pounds NOT Dollars..... when you do the conversion and add the shipping they get very expensive.

Im having major problems with the pre-compiled version of mame (command line) that was done to fix oftset issues with various games inclduing lethal enforcers.

Ermmmm actually if it's an .exe then it is compiled. It's been compiled from the source code the same way that the new version has been compiled from the modified source.

The latest official version of the mame exe includes Silver Fox's gun game fixes as well. Try that one..... see if that works for you. 

I suspect this has a lot to do with using the wrong rom set for the version of Mame that you're running.  You might want to grab the latest set of roms. They're only going to cost you

For europeans people price will be almost identical how from Hong-Kong and shipping time will be faster.

The price including shipping works out about the same as I paid from Lik-Sang.

The gun is cheaper from Lik-Sang etc but the shipping costs more so give or take a couple of quid it all works out about even.
Not sure about the cost when purchasing directly from EMS. I believe that worked out the cheapest option for someone else in the UK.

Lehar Enforces 1 is playable from MAME 98u1. You can check this info in mameinfo.dat.

I'd say "yes" for the version of Mame you are running.  I don't think the sound was emulated back then.  It is in the current version.

No... Standard first class Airmail Post...  As I said, took four days to deliver to the UK.

I search best shop in Europe because with orders from HongKong to Poland without special courier (DHL for example) is something strange (lost or duty).

The reliability of the Polish postal service is not an issue for people in the rest of Europe... Including the UK. The Royal Mail in the UK happen to very reliable.

I can honestly say that I didn't pay any duty on the one gun I had shiped to me, EMS did the best thing they could and marked the customs declaration as "Gift" and didn't put the invoice inside. In the EU you shouldn't be taxed on a gift below about

Hello.

I'm having problems with my LCD TopGun and am hoping someone here had a similar experience and can help me out.

I've had the LCD TopGun installed and working perfectly yesterday, I am using Smog's GunCon2 Driver and it handled the gun very well.

Today, I had to restart my windows, when windows finished booting up, I noticed that my mouse cursor is stuck to the bottom left corner of my screen, moving my mouse around causes it to move slightly and than immedietly jump back.

I than tried out my gun and discovered that it will not respond to anything, no trigger presses were registering, pressing both A+B with the laser pointer turned on does not bring me to calibration mode and does not show the laser, vibration does not work as well.

I've tried restarting again, disabling and enabling the driver, plugging the USB plug in and out, but everytime it's the same outcome, when I pull the USB plug out, the mouse can again be controlled normally, once I plug the USB plug back in, the mouse cursor again jumps to the bottom left and the gun is not responding.

I've had this issue before, somehow it got fixed, but now I don't know how to get it working again.

Please, help anyone?

       Yes, I think everybody who has them has had a similar issue at some point with them.  I need a bit more information to try and help though.

First of all What OS are you using... Win98 or XP?? Also, have you installed anything else on your computer, since they were working yesterday??

Try unplugging the Recoil... if that doesn't bring them back up then try rebooting with the gun connected, but unplug the LED stands from the gun cable before you reboot. If it then goes into hardware calibration it might be a power load problem.

If they won't do the hardware calibration then it is a drivers issue. If the drivers are not properly installed, then the guns will never go into hardware calibration mode.

OK! Well if you come back and read this and you still haven't got them up and running and it is a drivers issue, then the easiest way to get them going again is to do a system restore to the point yesterday when they were working. This will ensure that you don't have any other bits of junk clogging the system up from all those other drivers you installed.

I can tell you that, if you've been installing all those drivers, even if you think you cleaned them out before re-installing Smog's driver, there will still be some parts of them lurking and causing problems.

Ok, I have unplugged all other USB devices from my computer, tried calibration, still no go.

Unplugged the leds from the gun, restarted, still same effect.

Unplugged my gun from the USB extension cable, plugged it instead to a different USB slot, for some reason it detected it as new hardware and went through the whole driver installation wizard, once it finished installing Guncon2 Driver the mouse immedietly jumped to the bottom left, while I proceeded ot use the keyboard to install the HID-Compliant Mouse that it requested me to install after the Guncon2 Driver.

Tried switching the X/P switch at the bottom of the grip (hanging to straws basically), swithced it to X, back to P... windows crash...

Came back, did a system restore to my earliest restore point, Guncon2 Driver was already installed in this restore point, plugged in the gun... still no joy   

Would appreciate more ideas.

EDIT: Checked the gun on my brother's "fresh" computer, installed official EMS drivers, plugged the gun in (did not move the leds to his room, their still taped to my TV screen), the gun is still not working... what can I do from here?

- Clicking the Start button will cause the window to minimize and every 2-3 seconds a mouse click is generated where the cursor is, either a left or a right mouse button causing popups to appear on the desktop
- Trying to close the window will sometimes result in it being stuck without the possibility to even end the task
- No mouse tracking however I do have control over the cursor with my mouse

- Once the gun in plugged in, the cursor will immedietly jump to the bottom left of the desktop, the cursor will follow the mouse for a split second and than jump back to the bottom left position.

- Plugging-out the gun will release control to the mouse
- No mouse tracking or button registering

Acorn's WinGun Driver Version 0.82B
- Plugging-in the gun will cause windows to immedietly reboot
- Rebooting with the gun connected, WinGun will not detect the gun, the radio button beside "Gun 1" will be enabled, but a text notifying that a gun was not detected will appear both in the application window as well as in a bubble on the notification area
- No mouse tracking or button registering

General feeling: I don't understand this at all, one time it is working, another time it is not, even if I do get the gun to work again who's to say it won't stop working the next day?

Please help me get this gun working, it is not cost effective for me to ship it back to Hong Kong for a replacement, and even if I did I would not trust a replacement unit more than I trust my current unit.

This is quite frustrating, I know I am an early adopter and I should be prepared for situations like this, but this turns out to be an early adoption nightmare, reminds me of the Zodiac frenzy all over again.

1) the background environment problems(sun light, heating subject ) ?
2) usb hubs(don't used recoil, plug and play usb port to other port ) ?
3) driver problems(in my opinion, Don't always change driver ) ?
4) reflection problems (could you capture a photo post here ) ?

This is one long thead and I've tried to scan as much as I can. 

Well, I just got around to setting up this gun (I'm attempting to set this up on my PC running MAME).  First I tried it with the manufacture's LCDGun2Mouse 3.0 driver, then with WinGun.  Both didn't work for different reasons.

With the LCDGun2Mouse driver didn't seem to do anything after I calibrated.

My biggest concern is that after I have calibrated (or at least it seems to be doing something)... the mouse still doesn't work with the gun.  I followed the user guide, but am I missing something?

What should I see or the gun be doing during and more importantly, after calibration?

Another big issue is the fact that I need to stand at least 5 feet from the screen to even see the laser (and thus hope for this to work).

After installing Acorn's WinGun, the gun couldn't be detected.  I unplugged/plugged it to different USB slots several times (each time hearing the sound for a USB connected device).  I also rebooted with no joy.

After one instance of reconnecting the gun, a "Device Found" box appeared and I selected "next" all the way through.  This didn't solve the issue either...

A few things come to mind here:

How far do most of you stand when playing your cabs?
How much room do have in front of your cabs to make this work?
Just how accurate can this be from 5-6 feet away from the screen?

I was hoping this gun would work similar to actual arcade gun machines that have you stand about 1-2 feet from the monitor.

Another frustration comes to mind here:
Why do most arcade related products not come plug and play?  It's one thing if it's stated as being in beta testing, but this is a finished product.

Any help would be most appreciated!

install their driver, and then check the gun by support tester, which name
'LCD tester'.

and then if you enable gun2mouse(set the cali point '6 steps' before enable), cursor will be move while movement of the topgun.

I thought the whole point of this thread now is support between BYOAC'ers in setting this gun up to work with MAME and other gun games.


Because I have a 0.89 romset and cant get lethal enforcers etc (and the other gun games with offset issues) to run on silver's compiled ver of mame, as it runs and cuts off after 10 secs or so. Cant try the latest official version of MAME as the site has been dead for days.
I could replace my entire romset for these few games, but

a) I dont know any burners in the UK

b) I dont see the point in replacing my entire set for a few titles.

As I am 'clogging' the thread  perhaps someone from the UK could PM and point me  in the right direction.

Could a power failure have killed my gun? is that possible? because I had a power failure before the gun stopped working, on the other hand, I've had this issue before just by restarting the computer so I can't be sure that is the cause...
