This is my first attempt at attaching a file, but here it goes. These are the plans I have found.

You might want to look into just buying a new repro Galaga cabinet, there is a place (Mike's arcade) I believe that sells brand spanking new Jamma cabinets (monitor, controls and all) that are Galaga repro's for $900. Not cheap, but not bad for a brand new JAMMA cabinet.

This is my first attempt at attaching a file, but here it goes. These are the plans I have found.

The cab in the PDF is a tad wide.  Normally, a Ms. Pac/Galaga cab is 24 1/4", the one in the PDF is 29.

The plans on www.jakobud.com are pretty good.

The plans in the pdf file posted before don't look authentic to me. The side view looks quite different and indeed it's 26" wide instead of 24.5".

I saw a few cabinets built off those defective plans at an auction once, they had "Multicade" artwork on them that wasn't wide enough to fit (gaps on both sides of both marquee and bezel), and they had plastic control panels (likely due to the fact that they couldn't GET a stock panel to fit at all).

The plastic control panels flexed so badly that one was broken and the overlays were ruined on both by the end of the auction, both of them were buybacks.

ArcadeShop.com sells kits, they've only got pricing on their site for fully assembled cabinets though (I'd imagine shipping would be insane for a fully assembled kit when you could assemble it yourself in an hour or so).
ArcadeGames4U.com also sells Midway style kits (they've also got shorter cabinets for the vertically challenged- I'd have to duck to be able to see the monitor).

The cabinet plans are the only ones I could find online. I know they are not the right size I was just trying to point him in the right direction. Personally I didn't want to build one that was not the right size so I searched high and low and found an empty pacman that had formica on it at a local arcade shop. Much better option in my opinion.

Well a Pacman cabinet isn't exactly like a Galaga. A Ms Pacman is, though. There are some subtle difference in the shapes of the 2 cabs and the control panels are completely different from underneath.

Maybe a combination of the plans works. I guess the PDF plan gives you a layout of the parts you need while Jakobuds plans give you accurate dimensions.

Melamine... not a bad idea! I bet that would make a Galaxian a snap (since it's already white).

I did find that the plans on www.jakobud.com might not be as accurate as one might want. Comparing the Defender plans to my cabinet I found most dimensions fairly close, but some off by as much as an inch or more.

To answer your question, the pdf is only a Galaga inspired design. If you were to follow them to the tee, you'd still have a lot of construction decisions to make. It even says on the plans that mounting the monitor is to be "determined on the fly". A real Galaga cabinet would have been constructed with dadoes and rabbits. Using that approach, you'd have to cut certain pieces out wider to accommodate for the rabbits.

If you're interested in very detailed plans, this link might be useful if plans ever materialize:

I'm sure that your comment is going to encourage him all the more ... nobody OWES you plans -- they take lots of time to assemble and prepare. It can also be tough trying to measure all the nooks and crannies in an assembled cabinet.

Some time soon (but certainly not before the weekend), I should be picking up my Galaga cabinet and may be able to help then (but then, I still owe Jakobud pics and measurements from my MVS-2-25 ... ).

I haven't seen mention in the thread (been a long day, so maybe I missed it) as to what about Jakobud's plans is insufficient for your needs -- what are you concerns, exactly ?

EDIT: OK ... I see it now ... you want a complete cutting list ... good luck with that ...

Cheers.

No offense, dude, but this is your emergency... not someone else's. Don't get all aggitated just because you're not finding what you're looking for. People here are trying to help, but there's only so much we can do. Don't go getting demanding just because we haven't been able to help despite our best efforts.

Next time, plan farther in advance.

Trust me ... you were coming off as demanding ...

I've looked and, while I came close (somethings even the Wayback machine doesn't keep), did not find what you are looking for.

You may try some of the assorted plans on CD-ROM that are available on eBay (buyer beware ... I have never used them) or I think ClassicArcadeGraphix had some as well.

Cheers.
