I'm very interested in writing a book, on genetics

I was wondering if you could give me some details about the publishing process, like how much it cost, how long it took etc.

I could never do this if it cost more than a few grand that's for sure.

Were you able to make all your money back?

Didn't cost me a dime to publish. I did have expenses involved in researching, acquiring parts/materials, etc... but the actual publishing was done by a publisher - Wiley Publishing.

did they have harsh guidelines?

Self publishing is not a good way to go, but if you have to try www.booksurge.com
They are owned by Amazon.com and will list your book with Amazon.
If you can figure out how to use Adobe Acrobat you can publish your book for $100. You'll also have to hire a professional editor, which usually runs .08 cents per word.

If you have any more question let me know. I have experience with both regular publishers and self publishing.
