rca monitor horizontal position adjustment
« on: March 07, 2005, 12:21:59 am »
I have an old WWF arcade game.  Really all I want to do is sell it, but the image on the screen is shifted about 1" to the right.  I've looked through everything I can, but cannot find how to adjust this monitor.  I cannot find a horizontal position pot, screw, or jumper.  Here is some info.  I can post pictures if it would help:
RCA 81-22WNA
19v90
10 pin
8.5 ohms across vertical (yellow & green) wires

Thanks
Chad

RCA DOES NOT MANUFACTURE COMMERCIAL ARCADE MONITORS. Never has - never will. Visit www.dameon.net/BBBB/ and check out the monitor ID page.

The link DOES work. I had no problem getting to the page that was posted.  Here is a more direct link that should also work: http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/monitor.html

Given your ohm values on vertical, along with an RCA tube, I'm going to guess you have a Wells-Gardner K46xx series monitor.

The monitor model number is printed on the electronics board/frame, NOT on the tube. Look for a label attached to these areas and report the numbers you find, and/or compare the chassis (electronics board) with those pictured at the link above.

Also, if your chassis has vertical cards that plug in perpendicular to the rest of the chassis, it definitely is a K46xx chassis.

Looks like Bob Roberts' site has just gone down. It was working yesterday. His site is known for periodic outages. Guess you'll just have to try again later. In the meantime, try this site instead: www.jomac.net.au/mon.htm

The "Monitor FAQ" sticky post at the top of the forum right here is loaded with information. I trust that you read it before posting your question?

Must only be part of the net... I was just able to connect to it again without problem moments ago.   Also, I tried to look up bob's pages on the wayback machine (http://web.archive.org) however, unfortunately, Bob has chosen to use a robots.txt file to block archiving of his pages :( :(

Now I'm getting somewhere.  Under a lot of dirt, I found a Wells Garner #19k4605 (w/vertical boards).  I did search what I could on this sight and couldn't find how to adjust this problem on this monitor.  The wiring/control diagram on the side is #69x0950-100.  There are some paper labels on the electronics chassis, don't know if those will help?

Go to www.atarijeff.com and under Arcade Docs click on PDF Monitors -> Wells-Gardner 4600 series manual. You should have a "Horiz raster shift" jumper (red wire) to move. Coil L351 on the hor/ver board is the coarse horiz hold control which can also shift the pix over a bit.

Oh well,

Thanks for all your help.  The manual suggested, does not match the model or wiring in my monitor.  While poking around, I found an access to adjust a pot that I couldn't see.  For s@#ts and giggles, I turned it, it fixed it.  There is still a slight warp to the image, but what do you expect for $200.00?

I guess I learned something today.  I quit.
