480i sends TV out of sync
« on: March 06, 2018, 04:11:20 pm »
Hello and thanks you! For anybody who hasn't already seen, over on libretro forums an awesome guy named Alphanu has been kind enough to take the time to start working on a fork of Retroarch that will automatically change screen resolutions and allow for native resolution switching even between interlaced and progressive mid game for PSX games and such, you can find out more about it here https://forums.libretro.com/t/retroarch-native-15khz-crt-support-bounty-suggestion-50/10124/19

Basically I've been attempting to test this out and I'm having an issue the author does not seem to have, when it attempts to switch to 480i my TV is sent out of sync, this also happens if I use the Emu4CRT Mednafen fork in the 'native' resolution mode, however not if I use the 'super' option. I posted a video of this behavior here when I ran my test

This behavior is strange because windows and ArcadeOSD can both set the desktop to 640x480i with no issues. Also Groovymame works with interlaced modes as well although some games like Tekken 3 run at half frame rate for some reason.

I'm posting here in hopes this issue makes any sense to anyone who might know a little more than I. Thanks to anyone that's taken the time to read this.

Check ArcadeOSD for what interlaced modes you have installed and check for any modes out of range. Kinda sounds like your monitor isn't configured properly though.

Also wasn't it crash bandicoot you were testing there? That shouldn't be in an interlaced resolution.
