First post from GeoMan said he reached the white robots. GeoMan, any insights on your setup?

Could it be they're flipped? Set 2 is the original and set 1 has all the additional robot colors?

Ok, turns out this is correct.  After playing set 1 a little longer IT is the revised version with the many colors of robots that shoot faster.  I guess I didn't play long enough while checking set 1 to see the new colors.  I was looking for green robots right away and neglected to read the part about "...a longer color sequence after the cyan robots".

After reading this it seems the MAME team (or whoever dumped the roms?) made set 1 the later version since it was the most popular and set 2 is the original.

Do we start the competition over and have everyone use set 1 (which was the idea in the first place)?  The robots shoot faster bullets, and more of them.  It plays a bit different, and seems quite a bit more difficult  >:D

Good to know, but at this point we're only five days from end of competition. I'd say let's complete this, or end now and do one week with set 1 so there's a week with each?

Whatever - I guess it's probably up to Comtek since it's his competition?

Here's my set 1 submission.  Thems white robots fires fasts.

You're jumping the gun a bit there, popsicle -- that leg of the race hasn't been agreed on yet.   >:D

How about using both sets with the overall winner determined by adding each participant's best score for Set 1 and Set 2?

That allows for current score submissions to be used, introduces the more challenging ROMset, and allows participants to employ different scoring strategies.   ;D

Here is my set 2 score, 12,660.   I think I can better this.   I think that if a person gets the right series of screens you can run up a good score.   There are a couple layouts that are more conducive to being diagonally killed within half a second.  ;D

Set 1 is more fun!   The white robots are bad, they sure do fire fast!    scored a 9,130 with only a couple games.

Considering there are only a couple days left I'd probably leave the way it is but I'm easy to get along with.

Just tried set 1. That is a much faster paced game. Very fun. 6660 in that one.

ROM berzerk1

4,750

Ignore the 5,720 score. I achieved that when I used to be better. Now I'm worse.

Seeing as how archive.org has blatantly had a complete set of .149 ROMs available for months despite all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, perhaps that would be a good common denominator in these competitions?

I think that whichever set or combination were picked for this round, Popsicle is the winner, kixfan is second. Does that look correct?
