Hey HaRuMaN,

I was wondering if you could give me a run-down of the slimmest two-player standing pedestal you currently produce... Not gonna have a whole lot of space in the game room but I'd like to get a little something set up if possible!

Thanks.

EDIT:
I would assume it's something similar to this one? http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,130522.msg1448205.html#msg1448205 Looks awesome!

Don't really have anything currently set up, but I could work on a 2 player variant of that one.

It will be going into a house that we are currently fixing up. I'll stop by there tonite to grab some measurements and scope out how much space we've got but it should definitely be plenty accommodating for a 2-player cab.  The distance from the pedestal to the screen is the only real concern, but I can always just scoot them closer together and use a smaller screen. No biggie.

I know you don't have anything currently set up, but if we ended up going with a 2-player variation of the build I linked yesterday, would you be able to just throw out a ballpark price range for it? Thanks.

Your stuff looks excellent as usual.

Also, when did you change the name of the Nintendo-style to "Pretendo"? I like that, haha.
Does this unit have a soul?

I'm thinking a Crazy Climber Bartop is in my future...Would look good next to the Galaga.  Plus I'm missing all the 8-way games now.  :banghead:

So just a standard Taito cab shape?  I could do that :)

One of these days.....

Got my HaRuMaN Customs widescreen kit! It was packed very well and is quite gorgeous.

I started a thread to track build progress and ask questions:

I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the Widescreen setup.  I have a couple of questions for you guys.

1. I'm thinking about using the ball top U360's, Octagon restrictor with the stiffer spring and not buying the i-pac but using the joystick encoder.  Each joystick only supports 8 buttons and the admin panel using 3 per player + 6 game buttons = total of 9.  So do I really need the extra button? I know I can map insert coin and start to 1 button.  Oh and I plan to use hyperspin as my front end.   I've been reading and it also sounds like I will need to also run something like joy2key for the Front end and I'm ok with that.  I'm more concerned about missing a button / functionality.

2. If this works, then my next question is about mounting the joystick, I like the clean aesthetics of not using the carriage bolts and I've seen joystick mount kits like http://www.ultimarc.com/controls.html#mountingkits  and I'm wondering if this works good on particle board?

3. If joystick mounting kits work which size should I get 3/4 or 5/8?

4. I also like the LED buttons on the ultimarc site but will they also fit in the admin panel? (the button size is 28-30mm)

5. Last joystick related question, the u360's have the same mounting plate as the Sanwa should i get the CP be routed for it?

I'm planning on using the a small amp to power car speakers but I was not sure if the coaxial speakers will work mounted in the marque as apposed to outside of it.  If not any car speakers that I should look into instead (i would hate to loose the tweeter of a 2-way speaker thou)

For the monitor I really like the Asus VS238H-P 23-Inch which clocks in at 21.7 inches so it sounds like I should be good (2ms IPS).

Thanks

I'm pretty sure they kits are 1/2, so neither of the kits would work.

Either screw in to the wood from the bottom, or embrace the carriage bolts. I love the look of them. Screams authentic to me.

I put screws in from the bottom for the hung donkey, I and the owner were always afraid they'd get ripped out during frantic play, so I ended up putting in carriage bolts.
If you want to hide the bolts, you can counter sink the holes then fill it in and put some art over the CP but the deeper you counter sink it, the less "meat" the control panel is going to have.

I love carriage bolts showing, but I used to hate them.

What are the marquee dimensions for the standard widescreen?

Also, is there a template file with dimensions for sideart and CP art? I'd like to try my hand at photoshopping and then gameongrafixing.

That would be awesome! I'm gonna try to whip something up and hope it doesn't look too amateurish. I made my widescreen weeweecade for my 3 daughters, so I was thinking of having three racing Ms. Pac-Mans (or Ms. Pac-Men) on the side like this

   ᗧ
      ᗧ

or something along those lines with a marquee labeled AAArcade (all my daughters have names starting with A)

Dimensions would be really help, particularly for the marquee (Sideboards are the same dimensions as the original degenatrons plans, right?).

Haruman,

After reading all the pages in this thread, I decided on ordering the Widescreen Bartop from you. Just a quick question through, any suggestions for the acrylic bezel. I am looking for something Neo Geo or Street Fighter themed. Any idea on where I can start looking for them?

I can do art for a reasonable price, stpcore can print it for a reasonable price as well.

Hey guys!

Recently ordered the Widescreen Bar Top kit and purchased some controls from Paradise Arcade! I have a question that I probably should have asked before I ordered the control layout:

* I ordered two of these sticks http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/levers-paradise-arcade/672-black-top.html and these buttons http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/paradise-led-30-c/234-white-translucent-led-pushbutton.html Will they work with the kit and do I need anything in addition such as mounting hardware? I'd like for nothing to show on top of the control panel.

Those controls will work.

As far as the joysticks go, you can use just wood screws from underneath, and that should work. Just predrill, and don't pop through the other side of the panel.

How many of those are going to the Great White North?

Just the one with the stickers on the side.  He's been a repeat customer for about a year now... and the Canadian post have proved to be a little brutal with the boxes.  Heh.  Changed the way I've been shipping to Canada, started using instapack quick RT as well as some more dense foam insulators for the edges.  So far so good with the new packing!

I haven't had any complaints, but maybe it's the transfer between USPS and Canada Post that's the issue. I've seen importers be more ... physical ... with some packages during the transition. Or, maybe the greater distance between the two is a factor - more touch points, and all that.

You shouldn't have to worry about it for much longer. ;)

Newbie here.  I'm one of the 12 orders since January. This will be my first build. Already have the software side setup, looking forward to the build portion.
