GroovyArcade questions from a n00b
« on: January 14, 2013, 10:40:18 am »
I'm attempting to help a friend set up a mame system that will drive the monitor in his stand up Defender console, and it seems like GroovyArcade would be a great place to start. We're attempting to use an EeePC netbook, and made up a VGA cable to connect the VGA out from the netbook to the input on the video board.

If we boot the netbook with a standard monitor attacked, the BIOS boot sequence is reflected on the monitor as well as the laptop's screen. With the arcade monitor attached, we see nothing. Should we be seeing the BIOS boot sequence on the arcade monitor?

I choose VGA1 from the initial GroovyArcade menu. Once GroovyArcade's configuration menus come up, we can see some blue scrolling stuff on the arcade monitor, as if it isn't synced correctly. No matter what video configuration I choose, when xorg tries to start, I get an error that no screens were found. What might this indicate?

Thanks!

I just noticed that we failed to wire together pins 5, 6, 7, and 8 (grounds on the VGA side of our cable). I shall try addressing that and see if it makes any difference.
