LED Wiz admin lights question
« on: December 19, 2012, 02:30:15 am »
I have chosen an admin light that will actually be a led light for under the cabinet.
When I start Mala, the admin light does not come on until I choose an emulator from the tree.
The light stays on when I exit the emul and go back to the tree. Is there anyway to keep the light on all the time? (From mala start to mala finish).
I have it set to "always on" in the config app. (Im not sure what this does, it doesnt appear to be doing anything.)
I would like to be able to adjust the brightness of this led with the led wiz (mala plugin config app), but Id really like for it to come on immediately when Mala starts. It would be even better if it came on as soon as windows boots up and stays on until the PC powers down. Is there a script I can use to do this? I mean a script to talk directly to the led wiz for the one output. Im betting I could write my own little app to adjust the brightness of the one output without effecting the others, just need a few pointers from the pros.

Thanks Nephasth.
I was originally going to do that with either a 12 volt regulator (7812) or a 555 set in astable mode, then have a trim pot inside the cabinet. But as I played around with the led wiz I was thinking it would be neat to be able to change the led bright from the configure app, since the led wiz is basically controlling the led brites the same way the 555 would (PWM) (Or at least as far as I can tell, Im new to the led wiz).
But the led I would like to leave on goes off when mala goes to screen saver mode, another undesirable.
So now I think I will re-visit the manual pot method.

Another subject: When mala goes into screen saver mode a message pops up "LED Wiz plugin error: LWA folder not found." Im still new to this and Im sure I havent researched the led wiz enough, but if someone can give me a quick answer, Id greatly appreciate it.
Im not real sure I want all the buttons lit by ledwiz going off during screen saver, can I change this? (dont see the option in the plug in configure app.)

I have no idea what plugin you're using, nor have I ever used MALA, but if you haven't yet, give LEDBlinky a try. I know there are some screen saver options in it. Give LEDBlinky's manual a thorough read before hand and you won't run into too many problems, if any.

No not really, I think Im going to wire them to the power supply and control brightness with a pot and voltage regulator, although from what Ive been reading, a current regulator would be better, or a PWM generator, such as a 555.
