Hi guys, been reviewing the forum, very interesting to follow over the years.  I have a Championship III running on all original hardware.  I fear a hardware failure so wanting to upgrade.  Does anyone have experience with the new pc from Global.  Pricey but everything works and comes with the AAP.  If I have read the forum correctly, that version does not work for the online play.  My unit does not have a card reader, that is also required, I think.  Thoughts and help much appreciated.  Thanks, Todd.

I am close to finishing my PC build for my PGA Tour and running into an issue with the video card.

I have a Dell GX620 SFF and I connected a GeForce 9300 GPU to the PCI-E slot – when I turn the computer on it tries to boot but fails, and based on what I’ve been reading I’m guessing the power supply is not able to support it (my GX620 power supply is 275W).  PC works with the onboard video card.

Does anyone have recommendations on GPUs to use with the 275W power supply, or would it be easier/cheaper to swap out the PSU to support the 9300?  Any input is appreciated!

Specs:
Dell OptiPlex GX620 Small Form Factor
Power: 275W
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9300 P805 PCI-E V155 256MB Low Profile Graphics Card N751G
*onboard video card works

I don’t know anyone who has purchased a replacement computer from GVR.
How much is GVR asking for their computers?
You are correct that AAP disables all online play permanently.
They sell the card readers for $100

Hi Everyone, I just acquired a PGA Tour Cabinet that is missing the computer and dongle. I am looking to get it up and running. I have tried working through this post, but it seams some of the information is outdated, links no longer work...

It looks like the is a Facebook page, but it must be invite only.

Any information that can be provided would be appreciated.

You don’t have the computer so I’m guessing it’s also missing the nytric card which means you’re screwed until you can find one on eBay or some other source. These are typically $100 or more if you manage to find one. That game won’t run without it.

I recently acquired a PGA Tour Championship 3 game that I am attempting to get working. The dongle is missing so was hoping to find one for sale or figure out how to use the emulator. I was able to download the HASPHL2007 file but need the DNG file for Championship 3. Can someone help me out?

So is there any way to still register the cabinet online so I can play in tournaments, or is there something that I don't know.

I respect that, and I do have a couple pga's I was interested in joining the online games with. And I have been following the forum posts on and off for years - just as a general viewer, never logged in.  I am just having a couple issues recently with it. I seen you offer help above, and obviously wrongly assumed it was safe to ask as well. I do have several spare parts and LED displays, I will continue to muddle through.  I apologize, and point duly noted!! Thank you anyways!

Sorry if my response gave you the impression I’m not interested in helping.
When you say you are in need of dongle support, can you be more specific? What version game do you have? Why is the dongle not working- did you lose the dongle?

I apologize, I could have mis-read things.  It is tough to  get nuances in text online.  I admit, I can understand why it is easy to just brush someone off, when it seems they are just fishing, without putting effort in.

I have been involved with pga's since they were released!  I have a few dongles, and software discs from the very first PGA  before they even started the tournys, all the way up through the to the complete all access package.  I even have the Silver Strike Bowling conversion for the PGA. with panel overlay (not that I bragging,  just saying this is not my first look at the game)

The dongle issue I am having is, its like the all access dongle has been erased, or corrupted. I do an install, and it comes up an invalid dongle, and all the info fields show "n/a". The dongle does not look to be damaged, and all the connectors seem ok ) It is not the parallel port, because if I put in other dongles, it recognizes them (invalid too) but at least it spits out dongle info.  What I am looking for is to either get the emulation files (I have read about the .exe and about to play around with that) or a way to take the dng file and load it onto the dongle. Basically, a reload to make it proper.   I know emulation gets around the need of a dongle, I am just one of those crazy guys that likes  to keep things original. If I have the parts, I want them to work. lol

This should shed a little more light on what I am looking for. Thanks for your time.

try replacing the battery on the motherboard then setting the date and time within the bios menu to current.
Let me know if that works.

I can help with the DNG but I’m not sure how to restore a physical dongle with it.
But you had mentioned wanting to get online and you can’t do that with All-Access Pass.

I realize if I install the all access, I can not go online. But if I do, to be best of my understanding I just need to do a fresh install, and just not install the 4th disc (first is system recovery, then 3 program files, the 4th is the all access unlock patch that checks with the code on the dongle)  The gave will and has run in the past with and without the AAP patch disc installed.  I am not afraid of doing software installs, and have a second hard drive in 1 of the pga cabinets so I can switch between the golf and the silver strike bowling. Just changing Hard drive boot order, and moving 2 usb cables, and the control harness.

Simply put, I paid good money a while back for the whole thing (AAP) , I want to prolong it working the best I can, as pure as possible, for as long as I can. Like I said, I am goofy that way to keep things the way I got them.

I do appreciate the possibility to help out with the dng file.  At least its a starting point to research with.

Played Golden Tee for last 20 years, but it's gotten a little stale.
So I bought a Team Challenge machine with the purpose of playing online, after reading about the potential to do
so in this thread.
It has the right card reader and players cards and I was hoping I could get
an invite to the Facebook page so I could compete online with the rest of the community.
Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

Hey guys, new here.

I inherited a DOA PGA Championship I over a month ago.  Got it up/ running and have since put an SSD in it, widescreen, and minor cosmetic player upgrades to cabinet.  I’ve been reviewing the forum and it helped out a lot with getting this thing out of its grave.  So many thanks!!!!

Now i have the bug to turn it into a TC cab.  I contacted GlobalVR (which were great to work with)…a new PC with AAP runs $1100-ish.  I haven’t made it as far to know what “New” stands for, but it is intriguing considering my only debt is a $2.50 battery, a UPS, and a used video card.

Any thoughts about upgrading…or going “New”?

I could really use some help. I am attempting to fix a dead PGA tour golf cabinet working that I picked up recently. This is what I have done.

At first the motherboard would not boot and was just giving a siren warning. I replaced the CPU and ram and now it boots.

The video card that came with it does not work. Fan on the card doesn't work and no picture from the card. It says 3dfx 5700 on the back. I had an old Dell dimension laying around and stole the AGP video card from it. It is a Nvidia 180-10162-000-B00.

I took the original hard drive and plugged it in to another desktop I have. It is able to be opened the files look to be present. Even with this hard drive plugged into the game it will not load past the Bios boot screen.

I do have an empty 40 gig IDE hard drive so I formatted it and attempted to use the recovery CDs to reload the game. Championship 3 version.

With these changes I have been able to load the recovery CD and the system works through the reset of the hard drive. Tried multiple times but only once have I gotten to the screen where it asks to remove the recovery cd, reset the CPU and wait for instruction to insert the game CD. When I get to this point I remove the recovery CD and restart the system but no message ever comes up. The screen just stays blank after the Bios boot. I believe during this time the CPU and monitor are supposed to be syncing but it seems they never do.

My question is does Windows XPE not have a driver for my Nvidia 180-10162-000-B00 video card and this is why it will not display a picture? If so can I add the driver? Do I need to update the ini file and Bios for the game to look for the card?

I did order a Nvidia 6600 that should be here Friday so I can try that. But would I need to add drivers for this video card and update the game files as well?

One last thing the computer does is loses CMOS memory when the power cable is removed. I have replaced the battery but that did not seem to solve the problem. Could there be a bad cap on the motherboard that would impact this circuit?

That video card you’re using is not compatible. It must be a GeForce - preferably a 5600-9800GT
I’m not promising that this is your only issue as it seems you may run into one problem after another with that old computer.
You will need to add the driver for your new GeForce 6600 once you get it.

If your computer is the beige DFI, I’ve listed some hardware upgrades you can do on the team challenge Wikipedia page.

It may be in your best interest to salvage the nytric card and move onto a better computer altogether though.

My DFI has an SSD and 1G of RAM.  I do however have a 5700 card on hand and not installed, as I couldn't get my Champ 1 to install with it (but it works AOK).  Would TC work on my rig, or do i need to expand my hardware even more?

If I can get TC running, i'd definitely like to join the online crew.

Thanks!

You can definitely get Team Challenge installed on that with the 5700 GPU.
You may want to improve the processor;

The DFI ( beige ) computer has a nb32 motherboard with maximum capable processor upgrade of a 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 SL7EY 512/400 MHz socket 478N.

Please post some pictures of your cabinet and card reader and I’ll do what I can to get you online.

Hi all, I have a cabinet that worked well but recently has died, couple of the main errors is a No Signal In and then after a few cycles and re-boots get to some .exe windows errors.

I live in Adelaide and happy to pay someone for their time, anyone in SA with skills to re-build this, also happy to find a new PC so we have a clean starting point if that’s easier for someone who has rebuilt these previously??

After some further investigation on the errors believe their could be a mother board or capacitor error in the PC, anyone successfully recently replaced an original PC (circa 2005 ish) with a new one, happy to pay good rates for any help to get the PC component back up and running

Anyone have seen this error before?

Sometimes i can play all night, a course or two, or a few holes before the game quits and goes back to the Attract video.  I can go through select menus, pick a course, then sometimes crashes.  I have a shady RAM stick in there, wondering if it is that or do i just need to reload software?

Thanks
