Here are things I found while searching through this thread. Feel free to add or correct as desired.

Hi Tim thx for the effort mate. Some of the things have been superseded with later methods especially the patch for server registration. So be careful following some of the things in that text file. We will compile the latest instructions needed for every problem encountered and anything else that needs instructions and boost will add to the leaderboard website for all to reference.

Boost can't wait for these tournaments!! As Borat once said. I EXCITE!! Ha ha

I too think that most of this is dated and much has been superseded.  But this is what I found after hours of looking through the thread trying to figure out how to get my Challenge machine upgraded and online. It would be nice to have a current and complete set of instructions.

On a side note, I know someone in Minneapolis who has 3 PGA systems that he has dismantled to use the cabinets for multicades. I plan to visit them next Saturday in order to see what they have that might help the community. I believe they have 3 PCs for sure and probably dongles and other hardware, just not sure for what versions.

Will report back later.

I do appreciate all the help. I plan to install TC on my other hard drive when I get home Wednesday and try and get online next week.

@Yukonblaze - 6 Eagles or Better on St Andrews unlocks Plaid Caps. I have unlocked about 5 items on different courses but can not remember on which holes it was. I will start tracking all of them from tonight and send updates. I will create a skill shot  excel spreadsheet for us and send it through. We can then update it and keep track of all the skill shots.

When I start with the website, do you guys think it would be a good idea to make space for the 2 skills shots somewhere close to the course? I think that would be a nice place to put them.

6 eagles or better ha ha that's awesome. Yes we need to start getting all this valuable info in one place and the website is the way to go. So keep compiling all this valuable info and then we can port it across once complete.
Gvd you might also be timing out being from South Africa but not enough to keep from playing online. As this is what my problem was being in Australia. Whatever it is boost will no doubt find a solution?

Gvd, the reason you dont see leaderboards yet is because i need to add logic to the server to enter other regions other than AU and US.  To do that i need to impliment the server performance improvements i have or else a timeout will occur.  I cant do any of that until i get the tournaments up.  And i can only do that monday through friday.  Little bit of work backup but it will get done.  Thanks for your patience.

Wow, I finally got all the bugs worked out on the dev machine and dev server.  There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to tournaments.  Not all of it is in yet, but I need play results from you guys to complete the rest.  After I update the server tonight here is what you will get:




PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT:
Tournament leaderboards are not coded yet.  I need play data from you guys.
Tournament leaderboards on the website are not coded yet.  See reason above.
Difficulty is set to 3
Playing conditions were randomly generated
Playing condition for all 60 days of a hole are set the same
Each hole has different conditions
I did not throw in rain yet as it would be weird to have one hole rainy, next hole sunny.  Need to put together algorithm to make it seamless.
I did not throw in fog yet.  See reason above.
Weather forecast is not coded yet.  So before you start a hole the forecast will be incorrect.  If you even read the forecast.

Tournaments will get better as we go.  But I'm happy just to see the first one happen.  So with that said.  I will upload all of this code to the server tonight and let you guys know when to call in.

Ha ha ha ha read through the championship 3 manual has lots of good information about world tour and tournaments however the handicap system is just used for your overall rating in world tour and doesn't get used in anyway to effect your overall score in tournaments or the game. So I guess all you none ranking players will have to watch and learn from us ranked Superstars or I guess gvd would be ranked as a Legend in world tour fight it out in the up coming tournaments.

It's gonna be no fun at the top without you boost!! Ha ha ha

Maybe I've just been hustling you Spit hahahahah.  Showing a bad player, waiting for the tournaments, then BAM!!!  Top of the leaderboard where I belong hahahahaha.  Also it won't be the same when you only get 5 chances to place.  Can't have a bad hole and then go....oh....i'll just start all over.  Nope, not any longer, the pressure is on!  hahahaah

What we can do is start an external handicap system.  Take tournament play and calculate your handicap from that.  You can't sandbag or else you will lose tournaments just to get a high handicap.  Then you could go and win a tournament using said high handicap but then it will just knock your handicap down again.  So I think the first X number of tournaments will be straight up, then we can all see if handicap is what people want.

No handicaps is the way to go mate for now as that's how they were when global vr ran them. As you said can reassess after a while if needed.  Also would be good to get together and add some prizes in due course make it even more interesting. Even a NAGAR award mate so even players such as yourself can win something ha ha ha. Just ring that bell boost and let the pressure filled fun begin. Ha ha

Yes, this tournament is set to 5 games.  So i'm very interested to see what happens when you attempt to play a 6th.
Before I add the leaderboard logic I need to add two rounds of performance improvements.  This is needed or else you will time out when the new leaderboards are calculated.  So the next steps are to:
Add the two players card entries to the DB that are missing
Add performance enhancements
Code leaderboards in game
Code leaderboards on web site.  You will be able to punch up any previous tournament by tournament name and see results.
Code handicap system and handicap leaderboard that will be shown along with non handicap leaderboard on website

Today being the last day before thanksgiving and weekend probably means I won't touch anything until next week.  I might get the bug though and tinker.  We will see.

I anticipate another beta tournament next week.  Different course.  We all can discuss what you liked and didn't like about this one.  Too easy, same weather, not enough tries, etc, etc.

I called in about 2hours ago and about 30-45 min ago. I did that to upload my latest scores. Both was successful.

I hate to say this to you guys, but the ones that are not able to connect to tournaments, will probably need to re-install their software.  There is a good chance that there is old data in the cabinets database that is blocking the new info from the server being taken in.  I.E. Primary key values for certain tables could be higher than I am using, etc, etc.  I know that means you lose your WT data, but at this point that is probably the only solution.

Also, very important, before you re-install you need to unregister.  If you don't do this your dongle will be in one state and the machine in another.  Cabinet re-enable isn't supported yet so this is something you want to avoid.  Once you unregister, re-install, register, let me know what your new cabinet ID is so I can add it to the tournament.  I will make it automatic in the future but for right now that code doesn't exist.

Also, do I install all the disks starting from the system recovery disk and then with the Team Challenge disks?

I guess that will mean re-loading drivers for my custom PC I have and re-loading the dongle emulator and applying the server patch too.

If your machine has NEVER touched GVR's server then don't re-install.  Since you said you have a custom PC then it sounds like your PC has never seen a bar or GVR's server and won't have stale data.  Is this true?

Yes, this was a fresh install on a custom PC.  Never touched GVR's servers.
