I found the .dmp file there, but have been unable to convert it to a .dng.  Was hoping someone had the .dng ready to go.

I was able to use the TM Challenge .dng from the FB group to eliminate my TM Challenge dongle though.

Well, it was a good day.  I got TM Challenge to work with the dongle emulator and successfully connected to the server.

That's great news mate. Was it hard to do with emulator as it seems some people are having trouble with it. I haven't tried myself as have the dongles but would you be able to post a walkthru for people that are having trouble? Thx Joe

I didn't come up with the process, or create the files.  Lou and others over at the Facebook page paved the way.  I recommend signing up for the Facebook page if you haven't already.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/444981388985690/

Here are the basic instructions for using the dongle emulator for Team Challenge:

1) Have Team Challenge running to the point where it says you don't have a valid dongle  (if you need the files to get you to this point, they're available through the facebook group)

2) Insert a disk or usb drive with the HASPHL2007.exe file and Team Challenge.dng files (available here - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gqbxb5g1wwl79k5/AAC4k4qpT47DsueU2eTpl6Z2a?dl=0 )

3) Create a new folder on the C: drive and drop those two files into the folder

4) Open the HASPHL2007.exe file

Under “Driver” tab

5) Click “Install Driver” - driver should install

6) Select Automatic

7) Click “Save State”

Under “Emulator” tab

8 ) Click “Start Service”

Under “Dongle” tab

9) Click “Load Dump”

10) A window will open, locate the Team Challenge.dng file, select open

Under “Emulator” tab again

11) Confirm that the license field is populated

That’s it. Restart your game without a real dongle attached and it should work.

If you're running a different version of the game and have the .dng file, the process is the same.  I still haven't figured out how to convert a .dmp file to .dng.  If someone could share that info I'd be grateful.

Are you guys doing this on your own, different hardware, or the computer hardware that came existing with the cab?

Reason I ask is I'd like to upgrade to Team Challenge on a newer machine as a sandbox and not overwrite my existing machine, so I can fail back if I have to.

I put mine together on a Dell GX620, 6600 graphics card, and a fresh SATA hard drive with a IDE converter.  I'll probably try an SSD soon to see if it speeds up the boot time.

You can just pull out your original hard drive and load Team Challenge to a new hard drive so that you don't mess up your original.

Good point, I thought about doing that.  My original machine in there is really loud too - not sure if it is the power supply or the processor fan but it is so loud I can't stand it.  So at the very least I need to get rid of the bad fan and replace it.

I can't do anything with the upgrade either until I can download the ISO from somewhere.  Is anyone still hosting those?  I have sent STP a couple PMs but haven't heard back from him yet.

I have a Challenge dongle, so to upgrade I'm going to have to go the emulation route.

Also looking for some player cards if there are any out there.

You can get everything you need from the facebook page, ISOs and dongle file.  My instructions above should make it easy for you to set up the emulation.

There are some player cards on ebay right now, 5 for $10 shipped.

you won't see any difference. you are limited by the speed of the PATA bus not the throughput of the drive. you can increase speeds on PATA by making sure you are using an 80 conductor cable and not a 40 conductor cable.

Update on my end, as already reported on facebook group:

bought a gx620 on ebay, 6600 graphics card.  Loaded it up, couldn't get the chipset right after loading the game and therefore sound was not working.  Worked on this forever, not helped by the fact that Dell no longer had the chipset for download, nor the sound drivers, for the desktop I got off the used market.  Tried to get them from Intel's site but I think I installed wrong ones.  Took a chance on some drivers I found on a 3rd party website (dicey) but they were solid and worked like a charm.  Dongle would not emulate though, even though I was certain I was doing the steps right.  I thought there was a chance the original chipset install might be the issue.

Finally decided to just try again from scratch, and this time after the OS recovery I loaded chipset and sound right away, then the game, and bam, emulator worked easy as pie on first try.

Then... I loaded  all access.  Oops... forgot that the server patch won't work with all access.   Now I feel like a total idiot because I am going to have to do the install all over.   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh well - at least I know it all works now! And the new machine runs faster, and oh so much quieter!

Quick question - anyone tried to run the game using a new USB Happ trackball instead of the one with the IO card? Now that the dongle can be emulated, if there is a way to use the buttons with a small ipac and a Happ USB trackball I was thinking I could build another machine without needing any of the oem equipment.

Glad you got it all working.

Which dongle file did you use for all access?  Was it a .dng or .dmp?

i used the dng that was included in the files i got from the facebook group for TC.  Then when I installed the All access patch, I kept the same dongle file in place and it never prompted me with an error.

So you've got all access running 100% with the dongle emulator?

Did you add the all access patch after the emulator, as it sounds from your post?

I kept on getting a dongle error when I did the all access patch.  Guess I'll have to try again.

Once I had the TC running without AAP, I didn't really try to play anything.  I saw it booted up and controls were working, passed the dongle emulator, etc.

It asked me to register I think, and I skipped it.

My kid played a game, but I didn't.

After that, I installed the AAP patch via the disk.  As it was rebooting, I was expecting a dongle error, since the patch had been applied.  But nothing came up, and I was able to play with all 27 courses.

I'm going to wipe the whole thing and restart again as soon as I get a chance.  Might be a few days though before I get a chance.  That is, if the server is still available for check in.  Is Boost's server still up and running?

My dad recently purchased a Challenge cabinet in great condition. After wondering how to unlock the courses and different modes, I found my way here.

Just wanted to thank everyone in this thread for their contributions. The amount of knowledge gained and shared is quite special, I think.

I've decided to attempt to clone the Challenge drive onto a spare HDD and use the Team Challenge discs, Boost's ISO and emulator to see if I can get that running.

Just when I thought all hope was gone the Server is back up and running and that great man Boost is alive and well just flat out with a young family and another on the way. Server problems were due to power failure and battery backup failure but he has sorted things out and I am playing world tour in Melbourne Australia as we speak at 11pm ha ha. This has made me one very happy man and thx to that Genius Boost  :notworthy: This will make life much easier for us while we wait for him to find time and weave his magic again hopefully some time soon. Can't wait to post leaderboards and play some competitive golf against you all.  :applaud: Thanks Boost!!

I haven't had the chance to reload my cab yet. I'm curious, when server goes down does world tour keep working for a small amount of time and then stop working? Like a week expiration or something?

Hey everyone, sorry for the seriously long amount of radio silence on my end.  No C&D letter or anything like that.  Just a case of wife, child, child on the way, work, house issues, taking up all of my free minutes.  It's pretty obvious that when I'm at home there is 0 chance of me working on the server.  So I'm going to take my development setup to work today and set it up in my office.  Now I can go to work early, stay late, and the Mrs won't climb all over me hahahahah.

The server went down because I had a power outage and it was so long it drained the battery backup.  Spitfire let me know and I got it back up.  Is it working ok for everybody or is it down again?  I just took a peek at the machine and it is running, but I didn't log into it.  Just let me know if you guys are not able to ping it.  I'll try pinging when i get to work today.  Thanks everybody for being patient.

Great to have you back again Boost.  :notworthy: Very happy you are finding a way around the fun police of the wife and kids ha ha. The server seems to be running as it should again mate played it the other day and connected 100% percent and played world tour as normal. I will try it again today and report back. Can't wait to see what your next update will bring for us all. Exciting times thanks heaps for all your hard work so far!!  :burgerking:

Fun police........SO TRUE hahahahahah.  I am keeping the forum up all day while i'm at work so I can post more.  That way even when i'm in my little hole writing code people still know i'm here.  I have my dev machine setup here at work now.  Going to dedicate at least one hour a day M-F to the server :-)
