all merit's have a key sa-xxxx-xx
this is on the riser :i/o: card
also your audio is on there >final-amp<
the hd plug's right into the mobo
the touch screen the same
the coin stuff also goes into the i/o
and the merit s/w will look for it's proper key and key #

I've had the iTouch for a while now, and just wondering if there is anything that can be done with it.  I know it runs a version of Linux.  I'm just wondering if you can add new software to it.  MAME maybe.  I like tweaking and modding, and there's not much talk about these older machines, so I was just wondering if anything can be done with them.

i have been looking into the request's
will need to chk my ppw at the shop,i am sure we did something with them
the run on winxpe under a linuix kernel
to update the o/s
u copy the complete harddrive :secter-by-secter:
save it as master copy
then copy the copy u have saved
break it down into it's indvidial :cell's=file's:
from there u can add game's to the :game-list: .dir
then u enter in it's call >linuix-format<,making sure u add the nessary .dll's/.ocx's in the windows/system32 file
i know this can go over ppl's head's
but if u are fluntent in both os's,we can make it happen

i think itouch10 or 11 was the last support for those machines. they are all HD now. there isn't much you can do with them except update to the next version.

What do you mean by I/O interface. Isn't that the same as the mobo?  Just wondering what I need to buy off eBay. I have a usb touchscreen and computer already

no the megatouchs have an IO board that handles the audio amplification and coin inputs. depending on the machine is what you can do with it. All megatouches keep track of the hardware...if you try a different touchscreen controller it won't work. all the hardware is asset tagged - IE: they are all checked at boot to make sure they are "MERRIT" branded. (harddrives, touchscreen controller, touchscreen, (harddrive not so much anymore)

I have had some luck with swapping motherboards. I had planned at one time on purcasing an RX motherboard to replace the failing boards in the EVO machines but the IO boards in the EVO are made especally for the original boards and will not work. Megatouch has about 6 different IO boards depending on the machine...they have varying degrees of compatibility with other motherboards.

I have a couple Megatouch XLs running original Motherboards & I/O boards along with AT Power supplies, serial ELO monitors, & the platinum "upgrade" drives from fleabay. (well, one is up and running anyway)  The fleabay drives will work with any XL key.  I'm actually running compact flash cards with IDE adapters.

Unless you're familiar enough with the software to be able to get by with less, you pretty much need everything. 

There is no bootleg software or emulator out there on the internet that will allow you to play Megatouch games on your PC.
(except for the very old versions in MAME)

It shows it's age, but the Touchmaster series of games is playable in MAME.
Just calibrate your touchscreen like a light gun.

It's a PITA.  I probably had to tinker with each one half a day before it finally booted and I can't tell you what finally made it happy.
Once I got one good boot, it was good for a while.

Then I started having video issues and in poking around with the keyboard without being able to see anything, I messed it up and had to spend a few evenings messing with it again.  Then it went down again about a week later.

I don't even remember what the last issue was, but I ended up breaking legs off one of the chips trying to clean all the connections on the I/O board.
This thread motivated me to order a new I/O board just now.  If that doesn't fix whatever was going on, I'll probably give up on it. 

They are definitely not for the weak of heart.

If it doesn't work, I'll post the sa # (it's an XL GOLD key) and a description of what it is doing.

It's been so long ago that I don't remember what it was doing, but I was sure that it was the I/O board.
Since I have 2 and they don't get used as much as they used to, I just put this one away and haven't messed with it.

monitor is where i would start
unhook the 15pin db plug and plug in a lcd monitor
and fire them up,if the lcd come's up then u know the internal mointor need's service,if not then chk the power supply
it can use any atx style supply

The monitor needs servicing. I changed a few caps per Ken Layton's instructions, but no.go.

is normaly horz problem
disconnect the hot transistor
and use the lightbulb trick
this will narrow down the range and let u save a few hot's
but as a rule whine is horz and it could be a simple as a wrong or missed cap,or the yoke may not be pluged in right
start there and get back to me
