LEDBlinky - Wrong color/place of buttons in MAME
« on: April 26, 2012, 07:35:33 am »
Hi!

I have wired up my temp CP using Uila S leds connected to a LEDWiz.
I don't have the buttons connected to any keyb. encoder as of yet though.
Just want to test the leds out in MAME via Hyperspin.

I have followed the installation notes from the manual and I get no
error message from LEDBlinky with all the animations working at startup and what not.

My problem is that the games don't show up colors more than every 7:th game or so, and the buttons is out of place,
though that might be my fault. Button setup:

(1)(2)(3)(4)
(5)(6)(7)(8 )

Have only found the colors.ini from 2007(!) so this might be the case?
Also have the latest controls.ini from 2011.

I'm running MAME .145 rom set

Got a quick video of it here:

HEEEEeeeEEELLLPP!

If the game is not listed in the colors.ini file, it should still light up with the default colors. As for the wrong buttons lighting up – that’s most likely a configuration issue. Turn on the Debug Log and Verbose options (on the Misc options tab), then run HS and some of the games that are not working as you expect. Email me the debug.zip file from the LEDBlinky folder and I’ll take a look.

I believe part of the problem is because your mame.xml file does not contain any clone roms. For efficiency, LEDBlinky does not store the control values for clones – only a link back to the parent rom. So if the mame.xml does not include the clone roms, blinky won’t be able to light the buttons correctly for those roms. The simple solution is to recreate your mame.xml file using the –listxml command. Please refer to this support link:

I have a similar issue with some important differences. First, my setup WAS working but I had my OS drive die. When I did a re-install I decided to move my hyperspin (ledblinky is in the hyperspin folder) to C: (was on D:). When I did this I obviously had to update a bunch of configs. Initially I missed the ledblinky settings. This caused some access violations when ledblinky tried to run. I eventually figured out the problem and I *believe* I have found all references to the D: drive.

Now my problem is, ledblinky is lighting the wrong buttons! I have checked my input map and it's right. I can highlight any port and the right LED lights. Mame is configured correctly, the button controls are right. I have been pulling my hair out on this one. I have checked over everything I know of. The most frustrating part is it WAS perfect, and I haven't changed anything!

Here is a quick video I did showing the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/Ncbw2LTuCpU?v=2#errorPrivate video

I have created a debug.zip, arzoo you mind if I email it to you ? I'm lost...

MarbleMad - can you confirm that the mame.xml file you're using includes all CloneOf roms? See the third post above from this thread;
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=119739.msg1269808#msg1269808

If that's not the problem, then you'll need to enable the Debug Log and Verbose options (on the Misc Options tab), run HS and a game or two that don't light correctly, then email me the debug.zip file. I'll take a look.

Hello,

I post a reply here to keep you abreast of the solution to my problem's solved very quickly by Arzoo and I thank him.

The problem is a bad assignment of keys to my windows configuration in azerty French keyboard.

When I click a button on my arcade cabinet to assign a key has an LED, it returns me the code querty key code and not azerty.

So I retouver with a W instead of Z, Q instead of A,...

Once the correct keys assigned in the file "DevicePort-Input.ini", the problem is solved by itself.

Well, I hope it can serve other has Once again thank you for that Arzoo has quick response. It's worth buying a license ledblinky! ;)

My French original text :

Bonjour,
