mala videos in a black box?
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:16:59 pm »
Looking for advise

Never used the videos before but I am setting up a new computer so why not now

I know I am missing something simple
I used the mala layout editor to place the videos on top of my snaps

I am using the blue layout 640 if that matters

Snaps show for a shot time and I can delay them with the editor but the videos show as a black box not overlapped by the blue layout if that makes sense. videos are displayed in a black box over the blue layout, not behind the clear circle of the blue layout

I need to have the blue layout in front of the videos, basically the videos display as a box on top of the blue layout.

I have rt clicked and sent the videos to the back

Ideas?

The way videos work in mala, they show on top of everything else, and they don't have transparency, so you have to make sure you account for that when you're designing your layout.

As for the videos not playing, are you using the latest Mala?

It uses a new set of video drivers that are supposed to be much better than the older version.

I seem to recall having issues with videos at one point, but the newer mala solved it.

Finally, not just any video will work. Your best bet is to grab some from emumovies, because I'm pretty sure all those those are vetted.

Videos play no issue
I have emumovies

Its just that they display as a black box not behind the blue circle window

Yeah, As far as I can tell, the overlay function doesn't work with videos like it does with other elements in the layout.

You'll pretty much always get a square area that the video plays in, on top of everything else on the screen.
