Daphne in MA
« on: October 06, 2010, 07:15:55 pm »
I'm having a few issues with Daphne running inside of Maximus Arcade.  I have Daphneloader.exe working great outside of MA.  I have MA pointed to the daphneloader.exe for the startup file and the rom directory for the rom file.  I have forced scan of the files.  When I select the game from MA I can see the daphneloader gui come up for just a split second and then I just get a blank screen.  When checking the log file for Daphne, it leaves no new log file so it looks like it's not selecting the game from the daphneloader gui.

Anyone had this happen to them?  Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

What version of Daphne are you running.  What OS?
Please be specific in your posts

My setup is as follows:
-  Maximus 2.10
-  Windows XP Pro 32bit
-  Daphne ver 1.0-2.2.8

In preferences I have:
Window state:  normal
Path to media: short
Command line: (mind is blank with no text in it)

I had this issue but it was because my daphne was corrupted so I had to download a different version and it fixed it. have you tried reinstalling it without having anything else running in the background? Also, you know you need to place the games under the folder named vldp_dl. The games are NOT the roms. They're images that the format of the files are (.bf). The roms (which you also need) go in the roms folder.

Here's my version that works.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and the suggestions!

I have Maximus 2.10 running on XP Pro 32-bit using Daphne v1.2.  This is an old version that I've had for years before the latest torrent versions with the .bf files.  I have my own mpeg files that I'm using for Dragon's Lair, etc.  I have avoided upgrading to the latest Daphneloader for the obvious reasons.  I figured MA would still load this older version anyway but maybe not?

I used your upload of the latest Daphne just to test, but I guess it still won't use the custom made mpeg's without redownloading them all and forcing you to use the disc.  I have so many versions of Dragon's Lair that I have legitimately purchased, I really don't want to buy yet another one of the approved ones.  If I'm forced to run it from the desktop then so be it   :)

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Have you tried clearing the contents of the command line box in the preferences?  How about clicking the default button?

How about ALT-Tab (perhaps it's hidden when it launches).

I hate to Hi-Jack - but I don't want to create another thread on the same topic.

I have a similar issue - I've got Daphne working on it's own and on AtomicFE - but I can't get it to work in MA.

I've followed the instructions - pointed to DaphneLoader, set roms folder, et cetera - and MA still tells me it's not set up right.

Did I miss something?

I even tried it using the same loader and dummy rom system I used in AtomicFE. Still no go.

PS: Yes, I'm doing a hard (full install) comparison of both FEs.

[EDIT]  I'm a numb-nut  :banghead: - it seems I never noticed that MA wasn't saving my alterations to the Daphne setup from MA, it only saved them from the Preferences direct-launch. Works now - Ignore this post. WA
