MaLa, cocktail mode, flipping lists, not working?

Just a quick question:

I'm setting up vertical cocktail machine, running MaLa RC9.  I'm under the impression that it is capable of auto-switching the game list view depending on if someone sitting on player 1 or player 2's side is operating the joystick.

I have 2 Ultrastick 360's wired in through USB, and MaLa isn't doing any switching at all, despite having both joysticks enabled in MaLa and a "set" for each of them.  I've configured player 1 to use set 1 and player 2 to use set 2, but no list-flips are happening.

Does anyone have this feature working, and if so, can you send me your .ini file so I can try it on my machine?

Ohh I don't have any USB joysticks to test this 

maybe you could change your posting subject to include Ultrasticks in the hope that you may get another U360 owner to try it

On the cocktail mapping page select Joy 1 and Joy 2, not Set 1 and Set 2. Then it should work.

That's one of the things I don't quite understand-on RC9, there is no "cocktail mapping page", as I've seen on lots of the configuration setup screenshots.

The "controller mapping" page only allows sets to be selected, not joysticks.

I was wondering if that cocktail mapping stuff was from a previous release?  I couldn't find any older versions of mala to verify that, as it looks like it's exactly what I needed.

Thats the right page and it is available in RC9. It was renamed from 'cocktail mapping'  to 'controller mapping'. Here is a picture of my dialog:

ok, still having problems.

I have 2 USB Ultrastik 360s.  They both have separate IDs.  Games work perfectly with them.

In Mala, under joystick, I have both joysticks enabled (checkboxes).
For both sets, basic and advanced settings are the same, except for J1up/down and J2up/down differences for scrolling through the list.
Under advanced, I have nothing set for any of the fields.

Under controller mapping, I have the left side player using Joy 2, and the right side player using Joy 1.

Use mapping checkbox is set.


When scrolling through the list, J1 side seems to work as expected.
Pressing J2 does nothing.  No flips, no list +/- nothing.

When I go back into options, and under the joystick check tab, J1 is visible, J2 is grayed out.  I move J1 around and see it respond.  If I switch the Set to 2, the screen doesn't change, but if I move J2 around, I see it respond in the J1 viewer.  Is that the crux of my problem?  MaLa is seeing my J2 as J1?

another minor update: the screen saver does shut off if I use J2, so mala does recognize that it's moving...

alas, no shifts defined anywhere on any screen. 
perhaps I need to post a series of screenshots of my config?

I think I know what the problem is. MaLa supports 2 joys and one pov per joystick set (for example on gamepads). So be sure you use J1 up and down in every joystick set for the movement.

Joystick Set 1

One up: J1up
One down: J1down

Joystick Set 2

One up: J1up
One down: J1down

and not: J2up and J2 down. <- This is the second joystick and the same joy controller and the U360 has only one joystick .....

Try this please.

That was exactly the problem.

wow.  whew even.  (I'm having a party tonight and that was one of the things I really wanted to get working)
