Question on reading Jaokbud arcade cabinet plans

Can someone tell me what R16.14" means?  I've never really done angle cuts at all and was hoping someone here could enlighten me a little bit.

R usually refers to a radius.  That seems quite large though for a cab.

That's what I figured....I was looking at a good one or two to build...figured I could use those but I have no idea how to draw a radius like that on the plywood.

I second this. Unless you have some background in drafting, or have the help of software, they kinda come out funny.

Say you need a 12" radius marked out.  Take a nail, tap it in at the center of the arc, leave some of the nail sticking up.  Tie a piece of string to the nail.  Measure out 12" on the string, tie a pencil to the string, pull the string tight, and you can draw a curve that way.

You could also do the same thing with a ruler or yardstick if you don't mind poking holes in it.

A beam compass is a good thing to have.  A string and a nail will certainly work, but I've always had trouble getting an exact radius after trying to tie the pencil to the nail.  With a beam compass I'm able to get exactly what I want... down to my ability to read a scale.

My cab had several large curves, R7 7/8", R10", and R40 1/4"... layout was very easy with the beam compass.
