Utrak Help
« on: March 23, 2011, 10:04:32 pm »
Does the Utrak work properly with Windows 7 ?

I just got the missing adapter piece today to connect the U-trak to the USB adapter..
I connect it up and the USB board lights green for a minute while it installs..  then it shows a UHID mouse device in windows.

However.. No dice on movement or anything else.. is there anything else i need to have hooked up other than the USB connection

My U-Trak works fine in windows 7. My rig is currently torn apart, but I don't recall having to do anything special.

Figured it out.. Andy got me to trace a wire on the connector . While i was waiting for him to get back to me i swapped the wire harness around and found the trackball worked but all the directions were screwed which is to be expected with the axis wires all messed up but it proved the black ground connection was improper in the harness.
Whoever assembled the harness mixed up the 2 black wires and put them in backwards.
I swapped these around and now its functional :)  :applaud:

Glad to hear you got it working. I was going to reply to this thread yesterday but life intervened. Mine works great in Win7x64. One thing I did notice is that then you are putting the locking nut on it rubs against the wires where they are soldered onto the spintrak. I was going to suggest checking for that. You have to be very careful when sliding the nut across the wires.
