Licensed x-box 360 coin-op

"The Arcade Station T2 is licensed to play Xbox 360 video games in public and commercial spaces, including arcade centres, FEC, bars, nightclubs, and shopping malls."

someone should send them over here for some tips.

Other than the controllers sticking out, vs a regular cp, it seems pretty cool. Hell give them credit for giving it a shot at a making a cabinet. We need more things that at least somewhat resemble the classics at today's arcades. Though it might be far from perfect to the cab purist, it's different. It's also pretty innovative having an licensed coin-op console like that available. They did mention that it will be relatively affordable for ops as well. Probably just testing the waters to see if it might fly without a HUGE price tag that it could very well carry if a guy were to go hog wild on the design and features.

Sorry for the rant, just tired of the negativity for just about any commercial attempt at an arcade cabinet around this place. It gets old after awhile...

When the original XBox was out the arcade near me had a 4 player XBox cab. Big stupid looking square thing. I didn't really have much interest in it, but I think it'd let you play up to 4 player deathmatch games or individual games.

That part is cool... but aside from that it's like the worst parts of an upright combined with the worst parts of a console.

I didn't think it looked that bad either.
Are those the regular controllers though?  I have to wonder how they'd hold up in a commercial environment.  I would imagine they'd be shot to hell after a few months like all the console demo stations setup at retail locations around here.

A revenue generating cab, though, would be worth swapping controllers out of on a regular basis.  There is no incentive to do that on a retail kiosk.

Uhh, I've seen that machine --it's a coin-operated bartop. A good 2ft+ tall with LCD screen. How in the hell can you compare to those plastic Coleco toys...  :dizzy:

Maybe you should go back and play one. Your rosey-tinted memories are a little too fond of that little C-battery killing toy.  ;D

I had the frogger one. Played the crap out of it and dreamed of the day when I could have my own full-size one. Now I have them all!

I dont see what looks so bad about either of those cabs. Now the construction may be crap, but dare I say, I  actually LIKE the look of that 360 cab...

It's a cab with gamepads on it. Weird, yes. What sticks out to me is that if this cab follows the height trend, then those gamepads are WAY to low for anyone over 17.

That, plus that they are not "arcade-quality" in that they will die very soon on the cabs due to abuse.

What a pos.

Oh, didn't mean to spread negativity.. ::)

more like 'so.. dislike what people do at random? here's what companies come up with as official releases'

I just felt the controllers sticking out was just an invite for people to break/cut them off.

We see what happens to games with real controllers built in. The top panel seems to me to indicate they planned to put controllers
there, then decided to put the hand controllers on it instead. Closer to a store demo box with a quarter slot.

The first real success for one of these 'arcade at home' concepts will be one that is quality and not priced higher than a real arcade game.

I ended up getting one of those 'timer boards' for the original x-box. Same concept as this thing-
but not recommended, quality-wise..

The video works fine, but the controls don't, even set on 'free play'. So much for that cheap jamma interface idea..
If you order a pizza, put 1 quarter in their Galaga and the pizza's done before you are, you might be a video game junkie.. if you offer to tweak the crt , definitely.

I was curious.  Will it require special games or will it work any off the shelf X-Box game?  Will it be timer controlled, or will it have some modifications to the game code for the coin op system?

How are these games stored? It's sounds like an officially modded 360 with all the games on the hard drive.

I don't know about the new one, but mine has an video overlay system with a timer, and basically is just allowing the game system to be operated for that time period..
How theirs works, don't know. Fairly sure they don't have the games stored on the hard drive, or folks would be getting this and reverse-engineering it like the original x-box..
