Yeah, as prophesized by pbj, it's going to cost me some $$.

I took a shot at some repair work but I do not get good power out of the supply board to begin with.
There are a few spots that got 'warm' on that thing so that will must get replaced.
Same goes for the main board too I think at this point.

I'll just need to chip away at it as I learn more until it's working.

FYI, if you are using HyperSpin as FE, I am working on a way to autoswitch based on the game utilizing a simple .BAT script solution.  Its already working, just need fine tuning.  I will post a separate thread on this once ready.

Edit: done!

John,

Thank you for this demo!!  Looking great.  So I did wind up going with the Infocus IN112 with the Short Throw lens installed and it turned out okay in the end.  Built a little shelf for it in all four of my cabinets.  Also installed an outlet box inside for adding a 55 inch LCD TV with the projector and a splitter for more advanced event setups :)  While the players are seated at the machines the crowed can gather around the big ass Television and watch the race :)

So, is this a publicly available MAME build or a still WIP private one?

That's a lovely looking image on that Daytona 2 projection screen, nice job.

I did some experiments with a cheap ultrashort projector for 100. The front lenticular sheet can be retained if you put some rear projection screen sheeting behind it, but the Fresnel lens didn't work well and had to go.

But i have a problem with my player and coin buttons.
As you can see the inside is rotating for 3 of them.
I can not find a way to stop them from rotating, does anyone have a solution for this ?
Step one is to fasten the diffuser to the plunger using four tiny bits of gel superglue on the top, bottom, left, and right sides where the diffuser and plunger meet.  There are small ridges on the diffuser that fit into notches on the plunger.

WARNING: Let the superglue offgas fully (at least a full day) before you reassemble or you might get results like this.   :banghead:

Now that the diffusers are glued to the plungers, that just leaves the inserts.

If you have adhesive inserts, attach them to the diffusers at the desired angle.

If you have non-adhesive inserts either reprint them on Avery Inkjet (8665 or 18665) or Laser (15665) labels or find some adhesive or clear double-sided tape to attach them to the diffusers.
- Test the adhesive or double-sided tape on a test piece to see how noticible the edges are.  You may not like the results.

If you're looking for printable insert files check out these or these or these.

Glad to see you are back at it.  Recently, people have been using large TVs in portrait mode hiding the top behind the marquee and the bottom behind the control panel leaving a square exposed.  This as not really practical a few years ago but TVs are super cheap now.
You know what--I'm gonna look into this. Beat the whole friggin problem. I've got other issues ahead, anyway. Lol

This completely eliminates the need for a rotating monitor and you can still get "full screen" for both horizontal and vertical games.  If the rotation part of your build is giving you trouble, you may want to look into this.

Thanks, I was looking into powershell last night but seemed complicated.

I tried your code and get an error:

D:\mame>powershell "Select-Xml -Path mame-compact.xml -XPath '/mame/machine' | F
orEach-Object { if($_.Node.name -eq '10yard') {$_.Node.control.ways[0] }"}
Cannot index into a null array.

+ Select-Xml -Path mame-compact.xml -XPath '/mame/machine' | ForEach-Object { i
f($_.Node.name -eq '10yard') {$_.Node.control.ways[ <<<< 0] }}
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (0:Int32) [], RuntimeException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NullArray

Any ideas what this may be?

This worked for me when using your originally posted mame.xml.  Can you attach your mame-compact.xml?  maybe the XML structure is slightly different.
