dedicated mame cabinet question, my first post!
« on: February 01, 2010, 03:12:51 am »
Hey all.

Ok, so ive been looking into buying some arcades that have rather large cabs (ie. ironman stewarts super off road im looking at you!) but they are so flipping huge! would it be feasible to make my own two player cab and just mame it out with a crappy old cpu, cheap lcd, add original cp parts to play it, and add the coin mechs? im looking for a compact-er system to just play the one game, not 1000's here. I dont plan on switching between games in the unit, just the one.

so the question really is, what do I need to connect the controls? Harnesses, encoders, I keep reading about them but dont really understand them. everything else seems straightforward but I dont know where to begin with connecting the wheel or buttons or coin door to the computer.

If you can find one at a reasonable price buy this book to start with.
