Hello, i just recently purchased a dedicated area 51 machine locally and its in near mint condition. looks great. The only problem i ran into so far was the player 2 gun wasnt firing properly. Bascially it was firing and the screen was flashing but it wasnt hitting anything.

So OK after examining the P2 gun i notice the glass sensor was totally missing out of it, so then i knew i needed a new gun. So i bought a new happ gun with the adaptor and simply plugged it up. So then i went into test mode and started caliberating the gun.........which worked fine through the "hold the gun on the cursor while holding the trigger for 5 seconds test"

But then i take it into the motion sensor test and the cursor is sitting dead center and when i move the gun around the cursor isnt moving with it. Now the player 1 gun moves around fine and the cursor follows it etc. but not my new P2 happ gun?

So then i think geesh this gun wont work at all now, WELL i go to play the game and it shoots and works near perfect, but i notice every now and then it will misfire (screen will flash but bullet wont hit) especially when i get to the sides. However to the normal person they might not even notice this.

Anyways it seems it misfires more when i first start it up, but the longer i play it seems like it works better, but when i still go into TEST MODE the cursor wont follow the gun like it does with player one?

Any ideas? I see those motion sensor bars on ebay, do they normally go bad? and does anyone think thats the problem, and if so why does it still work half decent???

Does the player1 gun work on player2 cord?  Does the new (and old one for the matter) p2 gun work on the p1 side?  Can you try swapping the cords too?

You might find out the cord/harness is bad, if swapping guns does help p2, and if swapping cords moves the prob to p1.

OTOH, if the guns just work on p1, and both cords work on p1 side, and none work on p2 side, looks like something is up with the circuit board or its connection. :-\

Oh yeah, I don't have one of these boards, and if somethings really really bad somewhere (like a short), you might break something.  Try the new gun on p1 first.

But if the new gun has been plugged into P2 and the board broke the gun, plugging it into P1 will not help as the broken gun will now be broken on a good connection.  By your recommendation, P1 should then be tested on P2 which will break it making 2 bad guns.

But, that's just worst case scenario...   :dunno

try turning up your contrast and make sure the screen is clean
