Brand new sit at JAMMA cabinets (in kit form). With controls, coin gear, and Jamma harness. Everything but monitor

Cost? $1100, $600, nope, only $149.

Did you notice minimum order -  90?

Also, what do you think this means?

Each 20" container can take 90 set kits and then you can assemble the kit into full machine by yourself.

aH...  very cool.  If only I had 89 friends...

what the heck does this mean?

"Each 20" container can take 90 set kits"

*shrug* I dig it. (and I see your not so subtle point)

Now if only there was some niche  vendor who serviced the needs of the MAME cabinet community that would resell these (of course there'd be markup... but still)

Exactly. Buy a container full, and then resell.

They only come in quantities of 90.

90 is the amount that fits into a single 20 foot long shipping container.

I'd buy one for $149!!!

So who's coming up with the 13 grand?  ::)

Would there be 90 people here interested in one? heh We could prepay.

You might even be able to Ebay a few extra for more. Its a good idea, but holy overhead.  :)

I'll poney up $149... heck I'll throw in some for shipping too!

But at the same time I would need

some cash for paint to make it not so fugly

a 90 dollar stool (look at BYOAstool thread).. because it's a
sitdown.

Some wood to layer around it.... Anyone ever play a plastic arcade game growing up?

No but really...  If anyone really does buy a full 90.  They could probably sell them on ebay for 300 bucks pretty easy... Start it at 200 and you will actually get bids right away.  Add some profit in the shipping of 25 you might make a minimum of 75 - 300 per cabinet...  Not a horrid way to make money these days...  But you would need to get some shipping boxes (in shipping charge... but you would need to buy them in bulk).  Pay ebay their 4% ect.

But in the end... I hate to say it... I would rather have a slickstick cabinet... (or better yet... build my own)... I just like the wood look.

appearently... these things are from China....

price is very tempting....

shipping.... I guess to ship the container by ship... would cost about $2000 (just to the port....)

also.... I think those things will be already separately packed.... (it only make sense....)

so... if you're going to sell it... you might not need to buy too much extra packaging material.... (my guess...)

the main thing is.... you'll need to come up with that $$$ up front... also... it'll take quite some time to get rid of..... (pushing 89 at once is not a good idea....)

also... you'll need enough space to hold it in the meantime... (storage means $$ also....)

Sounds good to me. Would look better after being painted black. However, like everyone else said, I only need 1.

For comparison of shipping costs, a single DDR (pre-assembled) from the website costs about the same but would cost like $700 in shipping from HongKong according to the website.

Now buying in bulk will save per unit, but I'd choke to see the final shipping cost of 90 pieces.

It doesn't come with a monitor either... I don't think this is such a good deal, really.

If it had a monitor, yea... but w/o the monitor, ABS plastic is pretty cheap to manufacture, once you get the molds made.  If 90 people were actually interested, we could get molds made and poured domestically for much cheaper.

I don't think it's that great a deal, a friend of mine got a shipment of used ones from Japan with 27" monitors, I took 2 of them and it came to 250-300 each, and there was way less than 90 to get a minimum order.

Do you know what the shippingc osts were on it?

Plus keep in mind the website sells fully assembled machines with monitors with much lower lot requirements. These machines may go as low as a few hundred.

So it's a plastic shell that comes with joysticks? And is ready to have a monitor thrown in?  I think it's a good deal for 150.  It looks pretty different...looks like something in a casino.  I like it :)

I thought I already said it....

if I didn't remember wrong....

to ship a 20 ft container by sea will cost like $2000...
and this is just to the port....
(you'll have to pick it up from the port....)

extra transportation could be extra.....
(like have a truck tow it to your house...)

the price could vary since its been a while I've dealt with these transports.... but if someone is serious... I can ask for a more accurate price.....

No I didn't ask.  I'm sure he didn't get an entire container, he probably made a deal for a 1/4 containor or something.  The going rate for these Japanese games seems to be around $300 depending on the model.  Here's pics of mine.  It came with a large standard/med res monitor but no boards.

Actually, this is a common cabinet in asia.  Many people refer to this style as japanese cabinets.  Alot of Neo-geo games used this cabinet, again, mainly in asia.  Look at neo-eo collectors, you will probably see this cabinet.

ok... I asked my friend who is doing import / export business...

he said... from Hong Kong (which is very close to China...)
I did not ask China because China is a BIG place....
we need to know exactly where China to get a accruate price...

a 40 ft container will cost $3300 to come to NYC port....
(I believe somewhere in bklyn...)

now... a 20 ft container will cost 75%... $2450...

on top of that.... we're also talking about $150 port fees and stuffs....

on top of that.... there might be duty....
I told him its plastic video game cabinets... (if which is considered "furniture"...) then there is no duty....

ok.... so.. with shipping and storage cost... and that BANG of $$$$ up front... is it still worthed the trouble ??

can we make $$ out of it ??

 ;D ;)

I was a bit more interested in the Sanwa joysticks

http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/parts/joysticks/Sanwa_Joystick_818.html

These are the Ultimarc 'J-Sticks'. Minimum of 50. What would the shipping be on a container that size? I don't know if it would end up being cheaper then Ultimarc or not, but Ultimarc's shipping can be exspensive...

Btw, I don't have the link at hand but you can buy a new dynamo (these are the people who make 90% of  the real arcade cabinets out there) cab in a similar kit for for 400 bucks.  This one is a more traditional wooden cab though, and thus it's worth the extra money imho.

I believe the original poster was protesting the ungodly prices of the do it yourself kits from the various consumer companies around here.  I tend to agree btw.  :)

I'll search for the link and post it here when I find it again.

Still looking for an oldschool link but check this out in the mean time.  Plenty of import cabs either well under 1000 bucks or around 1000 with literally everything you need but a game.

heh I gathered that after I've seen it on personal neo-geo collection websites and on various japanese sites...but here in the US it's common in casinos.  At least the ones I've been to.  Of course they have mostly video-poker type games in them.  Never seen them in a real arcade, they would probably get beat up by the classic cabs.

What about the 400$US one w/monitor? minimum order on that, too?
