Going Price For Killer Instinct 2? (Now with PICS)
« on: January 23, 2010, 08:30:47 am »
Hello Everyone,

I was just wonder what a good price to pay for a Killer Instinct 2 machine is?  The cabinet is in excellent shape.  It's easily a 9/10.  Everything on it is original.

Another question, how easily would it be to swap it with a regular KI board?

Thanks.

too expensive and the game swap is just moving the jamma and kick harness from one board to the other.

I understand that they are expensive, but for a machine that is in excellent shape, what should I expect to pay for it?

I've seen them beat up but dedicated for $200-600, of course you will always pay a premium if it's in great shape.

I'd pay $300 tops. (well I wouldn't, but I mean if I were a fan of the game and wanted it).
NO MORE!!

Wow after seeing all of those, I'm torn.  I really want to get it so I can play original KI.  How much are those boards going for?  Is it really just switching out the boards ?  I heard you would have to switch out the HD's as well.  Is that wrong?  Is there any way to hook them both up so I can play each without physically switching the boards every time?  Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to the JAMMA stuff.

KINDA.  With an KI1 board you can rom swap / Hard drive swap and play KI2, but you need the HD adapter.KI2 boards wont play KI1 (AFAIK) but things might be different if you're using flash drives.  The boards are rdiculously priced, like hundreds. for no reason. Ive seen the same KI2 board on ebay for over a year at $300, doubt the seller will realize its over priced any time soon.

KI2 cabs are always priced between 700-900 depending on how good of shape its in.  I would definately jump on that deal if its really as clean as you say it is!  Also, the fact that its a Midway cabinet makes it worth it.  I have a MK4 cabinet myself and let me tell you that those things are SOLID and very well built.  Its very easy to switch out the Jamma board for another game or you could always modify the wiring a tad and buy one of those 1300 in 1 Jamma boards that runs MAME and has all the fighting games you could ever want.  Goodluck

I went and looked at it yesterday and everything is in EXCELLENT shape...except for the monitor.  It needs a bit of degaussing in the corners and the colors kind of look like they are sun faded and have a reddish tint.  I'm thinking it may need a new cap kit.  I couldn't open the back while I was there so I'm not sure what kind of monitor is in it.  I'm thinking that its a WG K7000 25".  Anyone know if that's correct?

Sounds about right, although for some odd reason I have seen other models packed inside of them.  I know my dedicated MK4 cab (basically same thing) has that monitor in it.  I still think its a good deal though since you say its in excellent shape!  Goodluck and if you decide to pick it up you better post some pics!

Thats the monitor that was in my KI2. Cap kit and its as good as new in my case. I got very lucky and only paid $350.00 for a very clean game. I have since picked up a KI1 board as well. Next thing will be a CF drive instead of the spiny hard drive.

I really hope it's just the cap and not something more serious.  I'm supposed to be getting some pictures of the screen a little later today.  I'll post them, and hopefully you guys can help me figure out what the issue is before I jump in to something that I'm going to regret.  I did get some pics of the cab though. Let me know what you guys think.

The only issue i had with mine was I ended up having to replace the mother board. It had sound issues, and my wife wanted to play her game. And it is her game! She kicks my a** on it. I picked up a spare board for $120.00 and it works great. I will at some point fix the old one and either sell it or keep it as a spare. The only down side of these boards is they are SMD boards, not through hole like most of the old ones. They are a bit trickier to fix.
