Problems getting started

I followed the instructions found here:

Mala comes up, but it appears to display every game that has ever existed - several thousand games.  The mame.xml file is over 40 megs and over 600,000 lines long!

I only have about 20 roms in the mame\roms directory (correctly configured in mala.ini).

How do I get it to read only what roms I have?

In the options, next to where it says 'rom path' it'll have an options button. Then check what ever check boxes you like.
