Stupid questions time (Garbled font text in games) *SOLVED*
« on: January 10, 2010, 09:58:34 pm »
Ok, got the CP wired (Ipac-4). Tested the ipac, all seems well. The mapping utility works, though I didn't really change any joysticks or buttons to anything other than the defaults.

Try mame, no such luck. Coin and Player starts work, but that's it. *EDIT SOLVED (By running mame on another ocmputer that I can read the text and following along to map inputs. However I would still like to be able to read the text on the arcade machine)*

But osmething is goofy with mame, because EVERY game I attempt to play, I get garbled blocks of clutter instead of text. For instance, at the confirmation screen when starting a game, you cannot read it. Its just a bunch of blocks of white garble (not even remotely a font). I hit my joystick to the right and it will proceed to the game. However, this becomes a real problem when I hit TAB to see what controls are what.

Anyone know whats up with the garbled non text showing within games? I'm using an nvidia agp video card. Everything else seems to function fine (picture, mame program and menu itself is honkey dorey)

*SOLVED WITH A WIPE AND REINSTALL OF MAME*
Feel free to delete unless it should be left for future reference

Are you using mame or mameui? Either way I would try a quick recompile first, that is if you don't already have everything setup.

Also this might sound dumb but try launching it outside your FE if you're using one that is and see if there are any differences.

Sorry these suggestions might seem crappy but I'm in the  :blah: kind of mood.
