Mortal Kombat 2 crashes
« on: December 20, 2009, 03:44:01 pm »
Hello,

I am trying to get a MK2 machine running but it has a few issues, during the rom check phase U6 and U13 are not turning blue (there is a monitor issue as well so I can't tell the colour it is turning). Then in the actual game it is doing random stuff, for example the screen will come up to fight and suddenly both players health bars will reduce to nothing and the game will end in a draw, also one round you will be playing the character you picked the next round it will be another character, the players and clock will freeze but the music will still play and there is also times when the graphics become distorted and look like a vcr that needs tracking adjusted.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot the problem would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not really sure what you mean by boot, but its an original Midway arcade machine. There is a picture of the insides at this link

Also check the 5v and turn it up if possible.

Just had a thought when I read that last response, the machine originally came from the UK (220v) I am now trying to use it in Australia (240v) could this cause an issue? I will check the voltages but just thought I would throw this out there for comments.

Thanks

can you test the PCB in another machine? if the machines fail the start up ROM check (ie they turn red) that might be the cause of your issue
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.
