Questions - IPAC/MiniPac wiring, U360 issue, and pinball
« on: November 25, 2009, 10:34:36 am »
Hey gang,

My cabinet is really coming along, thanks to much help here and by trusty Project Arcade book.  I have a few questions as I wire up my control panel...

1. I have an 8-button layout and a minipac.  What is the optimal way to wire this.  I started doing it and then tried playing Street Fighter.  My buttons seemed off.  Could someone matchup the standard switch(SW) wiring pattern for me?  I went top - 1,2,3,4 & bottom 5,6,7,8 - but that seems wrong. Should it go top odds, bottom evens?  Maybe 1237, 4568?

TopRed SW1
TopYellow ?
TopGreen ?
TopBlue ?

BotRed ?
BotYellow ?
BotGreen ?
BotBlue ?

2. I swapped in the long handle for my U360, attached to panel and plugged it in.  When I started playing, I'm off 90 degrees (up moves right, right moves down, etc).  Did I screw up here?  If so, what's the best way to fix it.

I haven't wired anything for player 2 yet, waiting until I get player 1 right (and some parts come in).

3. How do you guys wire up your pinball buttons?  I currently will just have right/left flipper and right/left nudge.

Thanks for the assist!

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Yeah, I'd say
1237
4568

You can just reattach the PCB to face the correct direction.
