Up the river without a paddle.
« on: November 15, 2009, 02:38:40 pm »
Well, as some of you may know, I'm currently in a 4' arcade cabinet replica phase.  Being 4 feet tall, these cabinets are space saving, easily played from any average chair, very transportable, kid friendly, and most of all, look awesome.

I've decided my next project will be that of a 4 foot tall Ghouls and Ghosts machine - granted I can get past these first few roadblocks.  (I'm actually quite surprised that Mamemarquees.com has the marquee, bezel, and side art available for order due to the game pretty much being non-existent).  Pretty much even if I wanted to buy a full-size cab, I'm unable to find out where to do so from my internet searches -- let alone the cabinet and cp dimensions.

So my question to the wonderful folks at BYOC is obvious.  Can anyone help me score the dimensions for a full-size Ghouls and Ghosts machine?  I'll scale them down to the 4' size myself.  Even if these dimensions are really never to be found, can anyone offer a cabinet that is pretty close to similar?  The Mortal Kombat cab looks to be close to it, besides it's girth and massive CP.

Also, any ideas on how I can reproduce the CP overlay?  The machine is going to be small, so the CP overlay will be real small.  Obviously I'll have to take the buttons/joysticks remaining full size into account, but if I can get some ideas on how to get the graphics I'll worry about the rest later.

Thanks a bunch.

There's no such thing. It was a conversion kit. If Capcom sold any from the factory in dedicated form, it was mostly like a standard Dynamo (like the HS-1) with the same kit parts installed.
NO MORE!!

It looks as if your right.  I just did a google image search on a dynamo hs-1 and it is an exact match cabinet-wise.  Hopefully I can dig up some sort of dimensions.  Thanks for the insight.

^That is the cabinet I'd like to make in 4' form.  I've found the marquee and bezel... (the only side art I've seen is the front of the flyer which I can get no prob) I just can't land that awesome control panel.  Anyone that can point me in the direction of it, or in any direction of a lead whatsoever, it'd be the best pre-Christmas gift I've ever gotten.  I'm sure a vector image would be too much to ask, but remember it will be a 4' machine, so even if it is a small image it could work.

Well with the help from BYOC's Namco and his directing me to GoogleSketchup and a pre-sketched HS-1 cabinet, I've successfully (and finally) got the dimensions for the scaled down 4' Dynamo HS-1 cabinet.  Everything is going to be perfect including the monitor I already have here that is pretty much the same size as the scaled down version's monitor.  The 3/4" MDF scaled down to a light and easy to find 1/2", and the one ball top joystick and 6 buttons will juuuust fit.  :)  Happ even has a small single coin door that will work out lovely.  Still faced with finding the CPO though.  God help me.
