Maximum PC - Mame cocktail
« on: November 11, 2009, 08:55:31 pm »
The new issue of Maximum PC came today with a couple of pages showing brief descriptions of their Mame build.  I-Pac4, Mag-stiks, Mala etc was in the machine.  I'm not sure if it'll cause a spike in people looking at the site, but the address was posted along with a few other links.

They did go into detail about the software setup too.

It's a pretty decent article.  I'm sure some will (inevitably) argue about this stick over that stick or this FE over that FE, but for the average reader of the magazine, it covered the basics plus more.  It'll be interesting if we see some new faces coming along trying to get more info on building their own cabinet.

Link to the article:

Looks like the article has been up for about 6 or 7 weeks so there are some interesting comments about it....  :)

Kind of a late feature for a magazine to pick up on, considering the popularity of emulation and retro-gaming was partially caused by MAME over 10 years ago, hence the resurgence of emulation-based TV-plug-in games and retro platforms supported on new consoles (like XB Live Arcade and Wii VC).

They actually made a link to "crapmame" to show what not to do. :lol I kinda feel bad for the folks who's rigs are on that site.
Its a pretty good article.  I think anyone who can build their own PC can build a mame cab if they have a prebuilt cab...  of course what fun is that...
