The Crazies
« on: March 20, 2010, 11:27:54 pm »
Took my daughter to see The Crazies this afternoon.
Pretty good, I guess, however predictable (but what horror movie isnt these days?).
Didnt care much for how it ended.
One good point was a preview of the "Nightmare On Elm Street" remake.

I saw the previews and it looks good.  But, like all horror movies, I'll end up waiting to see it at home.  And, I'll end up watching it alone.

My favorite is Jeeper Creepers.

Been wanting to, but just haven't gotten the time yet.

Also wanted to check out Zombieland, but, guess I'll be renting that.

Haven't seen the crazies. Zombieland is a hit among my group of friends. Just do NOT take it seriously! It's intended to be a cult comedy, not a zombie movie!

Also, Jeepers Creepers is the first horror movie I took a date to. I felt smooth being the tough 14 year old with my girlfriend in the theatre. Looking back it's not really scary at all... i hate you Justin Long!

JC sucked ass. As far as creep films go, this one is right at the bottom of the pile. If it kept the creep factor from the first half, then it would've been fairly decent. Or if they went with the cornball nonsense in the last half, then it would've been OK. Mashing the two together, it's like the film can't decide on what to be. It was like watching a crappy Quentin Tarantino film.

What I can't figure out is why they made another one.

How would anyone even think to take it seriously? I mean really, esp the scene's with Bill Murray... (His only regret being Garfield :D )

I have ZombieLand on DVD. Love it, but it is a comedy (not horror). However it does have some gross scenes in it. So you may want to screen it before letting your younger kids watch it.

I wanted to see The Crazies, but it didn't come to my local theater.

As for Jeepers Creepers, here's the review I wrote on IMDb the day I got back from seeing it:

The first half of this film is intense. My wife hasn't clung to me this hard since I showed her Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Advice to everyone: Stay for as long as it takes for the cops to get killed. After that, leave the theater. Sure, the scene with the Creeper squished in the road and that wing popping out and flapping against the ground is cool, but the scenes leading up to it are not. The psychic is totally useless and could've been left out completely.

I loved HALF of this movie.

Ginsu, you summed up my thoughts of JC EXACTLY. The first half was interesting, different (what with that freaky truck, etc), but then it gets real dumb, predictable and the acting and dialogue takes a major nose-dive.

Zombieland... I know it got lots of positive word of mouth, but it isn't THAT great. It's ok. Like 3 out of 5 ok, partly because most (all?) of the best scenes were in the trailer.

Crazies, I have low expectations of. It's an interesting premise, but ultimately it depends on where they go with the premise.
NO MORE!!

When I first saw it, I gave it a 10/10. On a second viewing, I lowered it to 8/10. Still a great movie, but not enough zombies or gore.

Zombieland, I agree.  Not THAT great.  It was okay to watch, but nothing I'd need or even desire to see again.  I think Natural Born Killers was funnier.
