WTT: My KI1 board/hd/marquee for your KI2 of the same
« on: July 18, 2003, 03:38:04 pm »
I mentioned this in another thread , but it was off topic so I'll mention it here.

I have a Killer Instinct 1 board with hard drive and marquee that I would like to trade for a Killer Instinct 2 board/hard drive/marquee.

I have a complete KI2 machine, but it has the KI1 boardset in it because I like the first one more. However, I want to sell the thing now, and it would be worth much more with the KI2 board in it.

So I'm looking for someone that has a KI2 boardset and marquee that might be willing to trade. Research shows that KI1 is worth at least as much as KI2 as a boardset, and full machines will sell for more than KI2 machines.

Anybody that cares to trade would surely gain from the deal (both in monetary value and as a better game), but I don't have the cash to buy a KI2 set right now, and the KI1 set is what I have available to offer.

For comparison, I saw a KI2 machine sell earlier this week on ebay for just over $800, but there's a KI1 selling right now for about $1100 (and 40-something bids) with 2 more days still left in the auction.

Of course I'm not offering the whole machine - just the board/hard drive/marquee set. But even that is probably worht more than the KI2. It's hard to find a complete set on ebay these days, but I have one.

If anyone is interested please PM me or post here.

I would also consider selling my KI board set because there is a local guy I can buy my KI2 set from if all else fails.

That KI machine just closed on Ebay for $2380. That's almost 3 times more than the KI2 machine!  :o

That kind of money for a standard upright is unheard of...

That guy will never collect the money for that game at that price. It was probably just someone jamming him.

Jamming? Guess I'm not familiar with that. What's that all about? There's another KI machine climbing the money ladder right now, too. It's already over $1000. You think that's the same thing?

I don't honestly think the game is worth that much money. I'm surprised it sold for THAT much.

All I know is that a local dealer told me that my KI2 is worth probably $800 and I saw one close on ebay recently for like about $850.

Just like vector games it's getting harder to find a working KI or KI2, and they really are good games. I think that's why they are holding their value so well.

(That and they come in a really great cabinet that is popular for conversions.)

You are correct, the main attraction (from what I've read) that most people feel to a KI machine is the artwork.

Well KI has a different fighting system to it. It's got Street Fighter button arrangements and Street Fighter style moves, but you can link them for combos. Plus it has finishing moves like Mortal Kombat. I like it. Just can't afford to keep it right now, and I don't have a spare machine to put it in, anyways.
