Anyone know of a way to convert the shaft and top on my supers to a longer ball top? I noticed some robotron joystick repro's for sale. Anyone try useing them?

The Happ supers use a 10mm shaft, and Robotron (WICO) shafts are 3/8" diameter.  I'm not aware of any 10mm shaft balltop handles.

Sweet. Sent an email for pricing. Do the Super and Comp use the same shaft length and width?

I haven't tried it myself. However according to previous threads on this board, the Competition and Super handles are indeed interchangeable.

Dang, I always forget about that guy.  I didn't know he had a website, though, I thought he was strictly eBay.

I haven't tried swapping the Comp & Super handles in quite a while, but IIRC there was something funky about the actuator on the Comp that caused the e-clips not to line up, or something like that.  I do know that the Comp & Super have different length shafts, but there was something about the e-clips...  Maybe it just needed a different sized spacer...  Hmmm, if I get a few momemnts this evening, I'll check that out again because now I'm curious.

Oh come on, its not that bad, is it?  That's the fun part, I thought, to keep dinking around with the cabinets & controls.  Who actually plays theirs?  Last I checked, I had MAME .24 on mine... ;)

It seems that the standard Comp handle is too short to use in a Super base.  I don't know if n2new's Comp handles are longer with extra retaining ring grooves, but if not, then it doesn't look good.

Both handles, side-by-side:

The Super conical bushing installed on the Comp.  Note that the Comp bushing is very close in height, so either one will be about the same:

The grooves are right where the actuator is going to be installed:

Too short!

I've found one of the original threads on this topic.

http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=191;start=msg1182#msg1182

It appears that you can fit a Super handle to a Competition but not necessarily vice versa. However it should be possible to get Tom to add a couple of extra grooves to his handles.

Also it occurs to me that you could replace the Competition spacer (the one just below the bat handle) with a short Super spacer.

If anyone's interested here is the reply I got:

They fit competition units, They are 10 each. if you order 6 or more they are 8.50 each.
I make them to order.  Personnaly I think the super unit is a piece of junk. The competition unit is a much smoother unit and better built.  If you want some to fit the super I can do a custom job, but you would need to order 4 or more.   These are made to order, I need to recive payment before I make them, takes about a week.

Thanks
Tom

To bad the super is in such low regard to Tom. His work looks great but I just don't need 4 of them.. tempting tho...tempting...

I'm sure you can find someone to go in on them with you... I would, but I just picked up a balltop off eBay....
