Command.dat setting on Mala.
« on: October 30, 2009, 01:47:32 pm »
Hi,

I'd like to get in a page of Mala info window, to see the moves of Mame's command.dat file.
Can someone explain me how to set it?
I get always "No info found on command.dat"!

Read this website for all info about command.dat.
If I am not mistaken you do not use Mala to see the moves you use mame.  This is from the above site under instructions:

The command.dat is not supported by the official build of MAME. It is supported by derivative or unofficial builds that add to the basic (and already fantastic) functionality that MAME provides. Two such builds are MAME 32 Plus and MAME 32 FX. Download one or the other and install them in your MAME folder (they can live side by side with the official build). Now download the command.dat archive. You need to unzip it to the proper directory. If you are using MAME 32 FX, then put the command.dat in the same directory as your MAME 32 FX executable. However, if you are using MAME 32 Plus, and your MAME directory is C:\MAME, then you would unzip the file to the C:\MAME\lang\en_US directory.

Once you have installed the command.dat to the correct directory, you are ready to view it. Start a game you would like to see the commands for in MAME. To access the moves list, press TAB, choose "Game Documents", and then choose "Show Command List". From there, you can select which ever character you would like to know about. You can also map the Show Command List to a single button press by assigning a button to "Show Command" under "Input (general)."

Thank you for your support, but I already tried to use it with MamePlus and it works, but I want to implement it in the info window of Mala!
I want before to launch a game to see the Control Panel, command.dat, history.dat in the Mala layout info window.
Is it possible?
If not, is there a simple way to make Mala to do that?
Thank you.

I don't like to say that you can't do anything because loadman will jump right in and say "sure you can you just  :blah:"... but I don't think that there is a way to do this in Mala, this is a mame add on.  Maybe someone could write a plug-in to do it.  Anyone want to jump in with the  :blah: to get it to work.

Thank you for your support.
So, by the way, I think Command.dat should be as useful as Control panels made by CPWizard, Loadman please, (or anyone is able to work to a plug-in) can you arrange to create a new plug-in to get this function?

Het, that is many hours work.

Why don't you try rolling your own? It won't cost you anything other than time.  :-)

I'm not able and I have no time to do that (my baby has only 20 months!... ;D), is there someone volunteer to create that plug-in for the Mala community?
I think it'd be a great add-on for a Mala cabinet!!
