Arcade Themed Skateboards
« on: October 29, 2009, 10:54:28 pm »
One of my sons turned 8 today.  We took him to the local skate shop to pick out a new deck.  I was surprised to see a Galaga themed deck for sale.  I'd like to pick up a couple of these eventually for my basement.

really poor artwork placement on the galaga and DK decks. The bottom truck would be right over Mario and the Space ship ???

Good point. I don't think these particular boards are really meant to be used.  My son has the paint ground off between the trucks within a week so I'm not sure why he spends so much time deciding on a deck.

I used to skate, but got old...

Yeah me to.  I've tried skating with him but my knees just don't want to bend anymore.   ;D  There are a couple of parks where I can bring my BMX bike and ride while he skates.

Still skating into my mid-30s. As for snow hurting less than concrete, I think that depends on where you snowboard. Its mostly ice around these parts. I find snowboarding takes more of a toll on my body than skateboarding does.

those are pretty cool looking though.

Yeah, I still skate once in a while at a park near me but mostly in the 1/2 pipe, cement scares me in my old age :-\

It was funny for me to see this post.  A few years back, I was big-time into skateboard collecting.  Then my hobby shifted to MAME.  My wife will be comforted to know that I'm not the only one of my kind...

PS - Almost broke my hip on a half pipe like 11 years ago...  Literally had to crawl off.  terrible pain.  Now, I ride a longboard.  that is an old man skateboard.  It's great!

I remember having a Jeremy Klein shirt that mimicked mortal kombat. I think birdhouse in the mid-90's had a ton of arcade themed boards and shirts going on. I tried looking for some of the graphics but can't seem to find any.  :dunno

That was his board and the rest of the team I believe had other mortal kombat characters. The shirt was the mortal kombat logo and instead of saying mortal kombat it said jeremy klein in the same style of writing.

Here is another one from powell in 1991.

that's pretty neat

Some Burton snowboards from around 99 have different classic games on them also.  I have a Floater 163 and it has Berzerk graphics I believe.  I just saw this SI on ebay too
