Some website comments...
« on: October 17, 2009, 08:33:54 pm »
Hi Saint and other mods. Like the new site updates for the most part - the forum functions like posting and stuff respond better, the file repository is great and operation is smooth. However, the new colour scheme is a little bland compared to the old one and scrolling through long threads is dreary and harder to count posts if looking for a particular reply due to the low-contrast colours of sky blue+white. Also, it's harder to quick-reference which topics you have posted in when scrolling down topics as the 'little face' marker is not as easy to spot as a coloured-in folder pic. Not really a fan of the moving of the 'reply' button from on top of each post to the bottom of a thread either - I know that's a forum norm but I felt it was handy here where picture posting is prevalent and scrolling down threads can be a chore.

Not trying to criticise, just letting you know my thoughts as I personally prefer 'function over finish'.

If you go into your profile, you can select a different theme.  I use the Classic YaBB SE Theme which is different than the new one.

Ditto through and through...... I immediately looked for a way to change the look.
The Classic YaBB look suited me just fine.

Is anyone else having trouble posting using IE?
I am finding that scrolling is not working in the posting dialog, the typed text goes off the bottom of the dialog box. Firefox works OK.

Are you using IE 8?  Put it in compatibility mode.

I'm using IE7 and haven't noticed any issues as such.

I kinda like this format. While I agree the color contrast of the layers is a little light, I've gotten used to it. It's general look is very 'trim' and pleasurable.

As for 'reply' being at the bottom, I can see that argument...except I have 'quick response' set so I have to be at the bottom, anyway.

Yup, changed straight back too.

One problem I do have now is that I can only select a log in time of one hour/day/week or forever.

My old account 'Franco' got deleted somehow and I can only put it down to being logged on at work permanently and someone deleted it. Since then I used to log on for 500 minutes at a time so I knew that when I left work it would log me out.

Obviously I can log in every hour but I wondered if it was possible to select a custom log in time like before?

I just love it!
I even like the styling better. The old one was to purplish and too heavy.

Good work guys!
And the recent topic list with 50 short items instead of 10 full items is also great.
