Control Panel meeting the glass
« on: July 17, 2003, 09:13:34 am »
I know I've seen this message before, but for the life of me can't find it anywhere.  I want the top of my control panel to meet right at the bottom of the smoked glass.  I saw a thread detailing how to do this with some kind of divider or something purchased from home depot and screwed into the bottom of the control panel.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

We should start calling that The Famous Smoked Glass Thread.  :)  But that's not what I'm talking about though.

I stumbled across the thread in a search, but can't seem to do so again.  It involved screwing some kind of strip to the edge of your control pane, and the plexiglass slid right into it, so that the glass and the control panel met.

Not sure about the thread.. but on my cabinet, the way the manufacturer did it is they cut the CP right at the glass at an angle (looking from the side) so it looks like it's going all the way to the glass, when it really isn't.

I am not aware of the previous thread - but could you just extend your CP back an inch past the glass, and route out a channel the width of the glass?  This way the glass would sit in that groove, giving a nice clean look?

:) Rotate or die! :)

Gooooooo rampy!  I've decided that if you can't find a link to a particular thread, then it simply does not exist.  ;)

Heh... I can't find my car keys in the morning, but I can find a thread from 1.5 years ago on replacement star wars parts (or whatever)

I guess I'm one of those idiot savants.

anyways, hyui is correct (or at least on the same wavelength as to what I was looking for... which was another freeking brilliant OSCAR post with example pictures!)

But I can see how if one skimmed the thread they mighta missed it so... THIS LINK goes directly to the post in question

If you (original poster) were looking for something else...  *shrug* I dunno.

Rampy I'd have your baby if circumstances were different  :)  That's what I was looking for.  I looked through "The Smoked Glass Thread" a hundred times during my studies.  I can't believe I missed that section multiple times.  Thanks.

during my studies

the simple fact that you described it that way shows the pretty sad state we are all in......

i prefer to call it research. sounds more technical and not so obsessive ;D
